Hair Poll - I need unbiased opinions.

yorkshirekiwi, 18 April, 2014 at 07:20 Posted on Planning 0 30

So I'm fairly well renowned for flipping my hair from blonde to brunette - without warning - I just get bored! At the moment I have dark hair and I wasn't planning on changing it for the wedding till last week when a person I barely know asked when I was going to start the process of lightening my hair ready to be blonde for the wedding. I've never talked hair colour with her, and when I asked her why, she said that she's had a dream and I should be a blonde bride!! (Weird or what!!!)

I asked my OH and he said he likes it either way (sweet, but unhelpful!) I've asked a few close friends and relatives but I realise that their responses are all emotional based on the hair colour I had when we were closest, eg Mum wants blonde cos I was a blonde kid, uni friends say dark cos I was dark haired thru uni.......

Suddenly I'm confused so here is a pointless straw poll because you ladies are so helpful, but have no emotional attachment to me.

Blonde?
or Brunette?

Sorry to waste your time so something so trivial, but thinking about it is doing my head in!

Gosh what a dilemma lol. I can see your problem though. What colour did you have when you met your oh? Perhaps go with that?

Again, either way looks right on you. I'd go brunette though, although I might be a bit biased! I'm seeing it half up/half down with a gorgeous headpiece!

I would stick with the dark, for two reasons, one I notice that you have 4 months to the wedding. Is 4 months going to be enough time to get it as blonde as you want it we don't want to end up with brassy hair.. And secondly the condition, how does the bleach affect it? Do you want straw hair on your wedding day if it's likely to damage it a fair bit?

I also like the dark better. And it is very true that bleaching your hair at this stage may leave you with dryness or brassy tones that are hard to fix in time. I'm currently growing out bleached hair to try and get it looking healthy for my wedding, and the remaining bleached parts are still in terrible condition!

Although you look great as either, my initial instinct was brunette - especially if you hadn't been considering changing it to blonde.

Both suit you really well but the brunette is a really lovely colour and, I'd agree with others that 4months isn't that long to start changing it. I do the same between blonde and brunette, I went back to brunette last year, about a year before the wedding and it has taken about that time to get the colour right, as it struggled to take to the bleach at first. And I've got to say when I go blonde, I'd say it takes about 6months to get to the 'ideal' colour so you probably don't want to start playing around with it now, just in case. I know what you mean though, I had a thought a few months back that maybe I should go back to blonde but I've decided to stick with brunette, at least until the wedding is over!

Thanks everyone, well, the vote was almost unanimous for brunette and that was my original plan until crazy dream lady got me questioning myself! So I guess I'll stick with that. Thinking about it practically you're right that 4 months is too short a timescale to be sure of getting the colour right if I change in now anyway. We have a 6 month gap between our UK wedding and our NZ wedding, so as long as I get on with it quickly I could have the best of both worlds and be blonde by my second wedding!

I have also had this debate with myself for months between brunette and red. I'm naturally ginger but feel the brown suits me better. Even up until last week I was debating. What swung it for me was my cake topper! It was painted with brown hair so that's what I'm sticking to lol

Hahaha mrs b2b, it was purple when we met and it has crossed my mind. I'm losing my nerve as I get older. Hair chalks for the reception then? My dad says if I have the nerve to go green (to match my bridesmaid) then he will too!
