Hair removal for the big day!

cford09, 27 April, 2012 at 18:00 Posted on Planning 0 23

A weird one I'll admit! As I'm sat here with Veet cream all over me, I'm wondering what everyone is doing with regards to defuzzing and when are you doing it? And if you're brave enough to admit it, which bits?!

I have really hairy arms and am toying with the idea of doing something about it but not sure what. Also contemplating going for the tash wax but it always leaves me spotty so maybe not...

Well, I am fuzz ball! Im lucky that all my bodyhair is blonde apart from eyelashes and eyebrows which are very dark brown! Although they are light I have a lot of them!

I have been getting my arms waxed since i was 14, I really hated my arms and people at school used to say stuff about them so my mum found me a good beauty salon and ever since then I have been getting them done.

Although now i get my arms, bikini, legs and back waxed. I have tried so many creams and homes waxes but I just prefer going to get professionaly waxed. Its so quick and easy. So i will be getting everything waxed for my big day.

I'll definitely be going for a wax (leg and bikini) before the wedding! I hate those creams and find the results don't last very long. If you are going to do something about the tash, do a tester one well before the wedding!

Will ne having a bikini wax ready for our honeymoon. Tend just to shave my arms every so often during the summer but don't bother during the winter. With regards to the tash I can't use any creams or waxing as it brings me out in rashes and has even broken the skin on one occassion. I now use one of those sillky pad things that is specifically for facial hair. If I get a few stray ones I tend to pluck them out. Being 44 now I have noticed that my hair doesn't grow that much on my legs now and the tash hair is very soft and fine so doesn't warrant any drastic action.

I use men's razors for my legs, so much better than women's! For the wedding I will get a Brazilian, I used to get it done all the time but have lapsed for quite a while now. This may shock some people but I shave my arms! Mine were always really hairy even though the hairs were blonde, one day when I was a teenager I tested a little patch to see how it would grow back and it just came back as soft hair not stubble so I went the whole hog and haven't looked back since lol. No-one can ever believe me that I shave them because they don't get stubbly...I don't do them very often as the hair that grows back looks just like a normal person's amount of hair rather than taking me back to being a hairy Mary!

I want to get legs, underarms & bikini waxed for the big day but I haven't had the guts to get waxed since I stupidly went to my college salon (about 7 years ago) and a student gave me first degree burns on both underarms by applying hot wax to the same area over & over again!! I was in agony for days & couldn't wear deodorant or close fitting clothes for ages!!!

My sister shaves her arms and there so soft. I shaved mine once and they come back so brittle, it was awful. I wish my hairs come back soft it would save me a fortune in waxing!!

I've literally had everything waxed at one point or another as I studied beauty therapy at college and you have to learn on each other! I find everything fine apart from underarms, literally brings me to tears!

As I had the kit at home I used to be so on top of everything but now I've been with OH for a while and lived together for a couple of years, I've sort of let myself go...

I've never shaved my arms as they are so hairy (really blonde but REALLY hairy!) that I'm quite certain I'll get stubble. I've got a friend that shaves her arms and her hairs are quite sparse but dark and hers get really stubbly and it doesn't feel nice when you brush past her arm so I guess I'm scared mine will be lke that.

My list for the wedding defuzzing so far is: eyebrows, possibly tash, underarms, possibly arms (although it will be very obvious as everyone is used to them being hairy!), snail trail, legs and I'm going to treat him to the full monty in the bikini area!

Now to find time to do it...

Oh haha! I have that too but it's barely noticeable. Does anyone else get a random long hair appear anywhere on their body? I get one on my chin every few months, it just pops up from nowhere all long and I have to pull it out. Oh always notices it before i do and tells me 'the hair is back' ️?️

I've never waxed, and I'm a wimp, so I'm not going to start for the wedding. Also, I have super sensitive skin, and waxing would be horrible for it- rashes, red bumps, and subcutaneous bleeding are just 3 possible side effects. Not to mention, long term waxing decreasing skin elasticity and speeds up wrinkle development.

I'm also not very hairy, and what hair I do have is basically blond (looks red in bright sun, but very light). And my freckles camouflage the hair I do have, too. I might go for getting my eyebrows threaded, and I'll shave my legs and armpits like normal, but no waxing for me, and nothing to my arms or anywhere else.

I wwuld go and have a practice wax first dont leave it till near the big day, you might get red spots or blotches afterwards so you need see how your skin reacts first. I sometimes get big red spots on my legs afterwards which takes a week to completly go so i know i will be getting waxed a week before the wedding.

I don't think you'd care about wrinkle development if you were really hairy?? ?

I've also been thinking about getting my arms waxed for the big day as they are really hairy!! I've never shaved them, so no idea what they would grow back like but I can imagine it'd be stubbly and I'd be the girl who you didn't wanna brush up against ?

I shave legs and underarms atm (& keep pubic area tidy, sorry for tmi) and use hair removal creams for tash... I will probably get my eyebrows threaded as an extra for the day and get my tash waxed, as like some have said the removal creams don't last very long!

I'm doing trash, eyebrows and chin wax which I do each month anyway. Considering underarm, leg and biking but really scared! Also not sure whether to do it once and that's it or a few times in the run up to the day.

Just normal underarm and leg shaving for me. I have sensitive skin so can't use those cream things. I've tried waxing myself but i literally cried. I also stupidly allowed D to join in and he loved it. He got really into it and said it was revenge (although i don't know what for, i've never waxed him!) so am a little nervous of going to a salon.

I will definitely get a hollywood wax but I've got to find somewhere good, I'm failing so far! I'll probably shave my legs as normal, not sure I can be faffed with letting the hair grow long enough. I might wax under my arms and possibly my fingers (random I know but they're hairy and they'll be looked at loads!). I'll get my tache and eyebrows waxed as well.

? I had forgot about that!! That'll be on my to-dehair list ? Is it not MEGA sore to wax underarms? Never even thought about that before...

I don't think I'd risk it anyway, shaving does the trick for my underarms ?

I will probably get my face waxed and that's it (tash and brows) - but have had this done before!

I'll get my eyebrows threaded as usual the week before; I wax my own tash when it needs it so I'll leave it to grow (!) so I can wax it a couple of days before the wedding. I'll be shaving my legs, armpits and bikini line as normal - I am WAY too wimpy to have them waxed!
