Hair trial *flash* and advice please

karencollett, 27 May, 2012 at 20:48 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi all,

I had my hair trial yesterday and although it needs a few tweaks (and my hair should be a bit longer by Sept so will pin a bit better) I think its probably the sort of thing i will end up having.

The main thing im not sure about is the tiara, it seems like its maybe a bit 'blingy' for me. I originally wanted a side tiara but im not sure if it would go with the hair or my dress and ive seen brides where they have several "bands" that kind of look like a tiara but a bit different and theyre nice but im not sure if they would work, i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or advice? Im planning to have a veil behind where the tiara is now.

This is my dress (its my first time flashing it and prob wont stay up too long as im a bit paranoid about the OH seeing it!!!)

I love love love the hair style, very elegant and beautiful, as is your dress, I think they work well together.

I see what you mean about the "blingy" tiara though. Personally I have very simple tastes so that much shiny doesn't do it for me. It does look nice, but if you don't feel like you, then I don't think it's right.

I think perhaps a hairband instead would look nice - a nice one of course, not just something from primark lol. Flutterbyweddings.co.uk have some lovely pieces, most of them simple yet very effective (this website in particular comes to mind because I'm getting my jewellery from there haha).

    Good luck ?

I love your hair and the tiara does look lovely, however if it is too much for you and you are just looking for a simple hairband how about my double row crystal and diamante band called twice the shine

I understand what you mean about the tiara, I'd personally go for something a bit more subtle especially as there's not too much bling on your dress. That said, they're all very beautiful and the dress looks gorgeous.

Here's a few examples from my Real Brides page of brides with up dos wearing side tiaras and bands so you can see the difference.

I think something like my Glamour Puss band or Ice Princess would look lovely

If I can help at all my website is www.louloubelle.co.uk and email is ****@***********.**.**

Gorgeous dress & hairstyle... Have you thought about maybe just getting a few sparkly clips or something put in your hair? That would look nice and it's not so 'blingy' Smiley smile

I have got a wedding headband rather than a tiara as I am a little older and also have short hair and tiaras just looked "too much". I have got it from flutterby weddings - Woodland Rose - it is absolutely beautiful and not overly expensive. I also got a headband with gorgeous little ivory tea roses on it for my flower girl.

Thanks everyone youve definately all clarified my thoughts on the tiara (although my mum will be disappointed) - 3d and lisa i will go and have a look at your sites tonight.

The only thing im not sure about is how simpler bands would work with the veil? If the veils in front of my hair (so not quite on the top of my hair but almost) would i not need something in front of it that would hide the comb? I really dont want my veil under the bottom of the hair at the back and cant really think of any other option...
