Hairpiece advice?

wintersunday, 11 August, 2013 at 08:11 Posted on Planning 0 9

I was wondering if I could get an honest opinion on hair and hairpieces. I'm missing the girly gene and have no idea what I'm doing. I'm getting married in a stately home in December.

This is my dress-

My earrings are something like this (a bit longer than that, with crystal all the way down the drop). I'm not wearing a necklace or bracelet.

I have no idea what to do with my hair or what (apart from the veil, which has got subtle sparkles on the end) to put in my hair. I don't want a tiara, but I don't feel I can have nothing. The bridal store tried to sell me this, but I fear it's too much bling. (I rarely wear jewellery and always go understated)

I definitely want to do the whole lace-and-pearls thing. I just don't want to look like some silly little girl who's gone raiding her mother's jewellery box. Any suggestions as to what I can put in my hair that's enough that it's bridal, but not enough that I look ridiculous? Or what to do with my hair? (my hair is currently halfway down my back, thick, wavy, unmanageable. I normally wear it up for formal events but I want to do something different, but don't know what or where to start)

I think that hairpiece is lovely! I worried about having something OTT but with the dress and hair and make up etc you need something a little more. I don't think it would be too bling at all! It looks lovely with the up do in that pic too. Best thing to do though is when you've decided what you want take it and your veil to your hairdresser for some trial and error. It's difficult to tell until you actually properly try it out. Hope those comments help! Lol Smiley smile

Ps I don't suppose you could tell me what make that hair piece is? Or share a link to a website it's on? I was thinking of a comb back of my head but that side piece is really pretty Smiley smile

I'm planning my wedding from overseas, I'm afraid- I can PM you the designer's site but I don't think they have a shop in the UK.

Can't post a picture from my iPad but I have a 2 row crystal and diamanté hair band on my headband page and some smaller combs on my website

    Hello

I love your dress and how the lace on the skirt is. If you want to stear away from crystals and stick to the lace, please feel free to give me a shout. These are just some bridal combs that have left my studio in the last 2 weeks, so unfortunately I don't have "proper" pictures of them yet :-)

This feathered comb was inspired by the 20s & The Great Gatsby and was a bespoke order.

This comb is made up from lace from the wedding dress. The lady had spare lace & wanted a comb made. She also had some small hair pins to match to have dotted throughout her hair.

Hope this helps & apologies for the picture quality!

    K

Instead of having a hairpiece with stones, why not a lace headband for a vintage touch? It might be more subtle which seems to suit what you're saying. Lottie Loves Vintage makes bespoke designs so you could dictate how unfussy you'd want it to be, and they could advise about what would suit your hairstyle.

Your dress is gorgeous, so pretty! The earrings are lovely too. I can't quite make out what is on the waistband. Is it bling? If yes, that hairpiece will compliment & look nice. It's stunning & I don't think it's over the top.
