Hand creams

cookiekat, 26 July, 2012 at 22:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 22

The best on the market I've always found to be Dermalogica Multi vitamin hand cream I am currently poor due to wedding and can't afford it[:'(]

My hands are constantly exposed to the elements, they get battered by my job and are very very dry and very lined and aged spotted ? I am currently trying to remove the callouses with flexitol heel balm as the hand one wasn't strong enough. If you looked at my hands alone you would definitely age me 10-15 years older than I am.

Tell me about your hand cream - preferably £10 or less. How often do you use it?

My Mum used to rave about the Body Shop Hemp one but I wasn't convinced.

Have to say I'm rubbish at using hand creams but when I do I find the Lidl one quite good. Mum also uses their body cream - she has a lot of trouble with the skin on her legs and that's the only one that doesn't irritate them.

I love hand food but by the sounds of it may not be hardcore enough for you?

What about that one for Norwegian fishermen?

Now that I work from home I am rubbish at using it but my morning settle into the office routine used to involve handcream.

My favourite is the Clarins one which is a little more expensive (though around the £10 mark in airport shopping lounges) I also use the Boots own brand one, I think it's their classic brand? It's cheap as chips and really thick, I used to wipe the excess off with a tissue but it works wonders on softening out hands in no time.

Body shop Hemp for very dry skin. Bit too moisturising for my 'average' hands. I prefer plain old vaseline hand cream.

I have tried the hemp one, but like someone else said its quite heavy and never seems to sink it.

I really like garner hydro lock for very dry skin. Sometimes when my hands have been in rubber gloves a lot, washed a lot etc they get really dry. The hydro lock stings like anything when they are really bad, but it really 'does' something. By morning they look and feel better, much more so than just using a normal moisturiser.

I also slather lots on and sleep with cotton gloves on.

My hands have been lovely and soft and healthy for months now. Touch wood. Maybe I'm getting slack at work!

I get patches of eczema on my hands and I can highly recommend "Aveeno Cream" - I've tried a lot of hand creams and this one sinks in quickly (I use it after every hand wash), it leaves a light protective film and my hands haven't felt so good in ages.

Just going to say Aveeno!! It's brilliant, I wash my hands constantly at work (work in a bakers) and its a habit I continue at home, my hands are dry, cracked and bleed a lot. They're horrible and Aveeno is the only cream that has ever worked. It's got a barrier in it which you really feel and it heals sore hands brilliantly.

My mum used to buy the hemp one from the body shop and she loved it but when she tried the Aveeno one she liked it better

Due to working with my hands, they get lots of stick and I suffer from deep cuts and skin slicing from the fine wires. The only cream that works for me is Avon's Planet Spa hand and cuticle cream with shea butter. I use the foot cream on my heels too and it's lush.

ETA I only use it once on a night because I can't work if with it on but you could apply it day and night if you wanted. I also suffer from psoriasis sometimes when my hands get really bad and it cures that for me too.

I use Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream as an intensive hand moisturiser. put on a thin layer, and wear white cotton gloves overnight. Really is good.

The Body Shop Hemp one is good for ezema but not that intensive as you want I don't think. The Body Shop do a hemp hand oil too, you could try that with the cotton gloves too which could be good!

Another one here for Body Shop Hemp handcream. My Mum has psorisis (sp) on her hands and this is the only thing that clears it up. I use Cutex as I have quite brittle nails.

Aveeno is really good. My favourite, however is L'Occitane's hand cream. Although it's a bit spendy at £17 for a large tube, it lasts AGES. It's fantastic and cleared up my dry skin really quickly.

Yep - L'Occitane is brilliant. I was trying to be good and stick to the budget! Find it too greasy to wear during the day though, so only use before bed! Also usually buy in duty free because I'm a cheapskate!

Another vote for Soap & Glory Hand Food - doesn't leave your hands feeling greasy for half an hour afterwards and smells lovely!
