HANDS UP WHOSE THRILLED THEY'VE GOT AT LEAST TWO YEARS TO PLAN THEIR WEDDING :):):)

<3FutureMrsN<3, 15 February, 2013 at 13:37 Posted on Planning 0 26

Mememe I am teehee.

i love the fact that I have so long to plan every little detail so I can get it right AND its giving me loads of time to pick up little bits for the wedding ?

My sister married 15 months after getting engaged and now that I'm planning I'm so glad I've got 24 months (well 23 now if things go according to plan)

Hmm you say this now but it does kinda end up being an elephant in the room in many aspects of your life for the next 24 months.

We booked our venue November 2011 for September 2013 (mainly because of the Olympics taking over London in the Summer of 2012 and 2 of my close friends being away travelling) and I'm soooo over waiting for the wedding, I wouldn't do it like this again.

I am too! All my friends and family think its really smart to wait that long so we can plan it perfectly and save up too Smiley smile

i went to a wedding fair last month and a dress seller thought I was really organised that I was planning already and she was really impressed Smiley laugh

Also means we get two years of excitement too Smiley laugh

    eeeeek! X

    I've got 2 years 4 months

My life is no way on hold - in fact i've got so much booked up this year i'm glad im not getting married ! lol

Its worked out nicely for our family, my cousin is getting married this year, brother next and me the following. Its nice that there's a gap between us all and I've booked up most things with a really good discount with it being so far away Smiley smile Plus i get pretty much everything I want! haha

We booked with three years to go and now its 2 years 4 months already (i only know that from my tracker lol) - time moves so fast - when we get married i want to be at the stage where i've had a wicked 20's with no regrets and ready to start a family Smiley smile

I don't think it matters how far or short it is away - as long as you and your h2b have an amazing day built with lovely memories then where's the biggy?

I'm 15 days away now, but when we first booked it was over 600 days, thats over 18months. I was glad of it at the time, and still am to an extent however there is only so much you can do with all that time before you wind yourself up, wobble, or spend more money than you'd intended.

Having spent so long building up, I am rather in denial about being 15 days away. It sort of doesn't quite compute in my head because the wedding has always been this thing thats ages away!!

I'll probably be the same on my actual day!!! haha

To be honest i'm just enjoying life as it comes - yes we're getting married but it won't be the be all and end all - just an absolutely fantastic day inbetween what I hope will be a very long relationship and (eventually) marriage Smiley smile

At first I thought it was fantastic but I've got most of the things out of the way apart from things like flowers that I can't arrange until at least 8 months before.

Now I just feel that it's not going quick enough!

Venue is booked and dress is bought and now the waiting game!

Not me. I booked my wedding back in August 2012 for May 2014 and I wish I had booked it for the end of this year now! The next 15 months will probably go really drag by and I just want to get planning properly!

I was almost exactly a year . That worked out well , enough time to book and buy but not so far away that it seemed endless .

We still have 2.5 years to go, which was out of necessity more than choice, but now i've got used to the idea I don't think we'd change it.

I love that we have so much time to save. It means we can have more or less everything that we want without having to budget or compromise on our day to day lifestyle. It means we don't have to worry about guest lists or excluding people we love because of finances- both of which may have become issues if we'd brought it forward a year or so as we'd have needed to scale back our plans.

It means we've been able to take our time sourcing suppliers and have thus far had the pick of the bunch- something which is never guaranteed, but the odds of people being booked up increases the closer you get. We've also saved oodles on everything by securing 2012 prices.

What I love most is the fact that I have the time to make and source many of the things we'd like for our wedding myself. Making, sewing and creating things in quantities of 100 takes up a lot of time! But again, because we have a while to go it means that i'm not having to compromise in day to day life and can do little bits here and there.

The only downside really is that we have elderly relatives who could well not be around by then. That of course could be the case with any relative, no matter when we were getting married but it's definitely something that's a real possibility.

Sometimes it does feel like forever away, but we book couples in 2 years or more in advance all the time and with the blink of an eye their weddings are here. The fact that we'll have wedding season to deal with just before we get married means that hopefully it wont have time to drag too much.

I don't know how you ladies do it, you must all have a lot of patience. 7 months was too long for me. 5 months in I was bored of planning and just impatient to get married.

We had 280 days from booking. It seemed a long way off but am now at 126 days and it has flown by. Got the big stuff pretty much sorted and know what I want for the rest, so it's really just a case of buying stuff and dress fittings from now on. I'm glad I didn't have a long wait though cos I'm already impatient and can't wait to bag myself a lovely husband!! :0)

I still have just over 2 years to go but we first went to visit our venue over a year ago now which has just whizzed by.

we don't earn much as a couple so waiting this long means we can save and have the day we want, not just what we can afford if we were to marry within a year...I'm fussy and once I set my heart on something, I want it, otherwise full blown bridezilla mode kicks in haha!

Its not for everyone to wait so long for their wedding, but I also need the time to lose loads of weight...bought my wedding dress a year ago already in a smaller size but am still way too fat for it so 2 years to sort myself out haha!

We got engaged Christmas Day 2011, booked the venue march 2012 and our big day is 9th April 2015. 2012 was a long year but I planned quite a few things. Now we are in 2013 I'm planning even more. I've been doing my vet nurse training and whilst working full time this is not an easy task so I'm really glad to have 3 years of planning. Most people I know have done their wedding within 18 months of getting engaged and all of them have said how they wished they had more time to plan. I really can't wait to become Mrs A but for now I'm just really enjoying planning.

3 years 6 months and counting!

I'm loving the plenty of time as we can save up and not cripple ourselves elsewhere, and there's lots of scope for deciding what we want and getting it right.

On the other hand, there is to much time for many changes of mind and a bloody long wait for someone who isn't known for being patient ?

We have two years 6 months to go! I love the time I have to research and get good deals. I work full time and weekends too so doing things bit by bit rather than getting worked up all last minute but thats just me. When we got engaged last year we decided 2015 because of how much we would have to save without crippling us on our day to day. Good job we did as now we 4 weddings this year and one in zante next year. We couldn't have been involved with these as much if we had our wedding too. Lots of people have said it will fly by and they are right we are nearly 3 months into this year already! Where has that gone!!

By the time I get married it'll be just under 2 years from the time I got engaged.

I'm already fed up with having to wait but with one thing or another we couldn't get married any sooner. The problem is that I know almost exactly what I want for each aspect of my wedding but I'm making myself drag out booking things otherwise I'd have everything booked and then just sit around and wait for the big day!

I wish I felt like you, the waiting is driving me mad! ?

At new year last year we started to plan our wedding. We had it that it would be 2014. We both realised we would be bored waiting and it didn't make sense to us to save for two years for one day. So we decided to go for our anniversary last year (June 29th) with seven weeks to plan everything. And I was bored for the last couple of weeks with nothing to do! Two years would have driven me crazy. I don't know how you all cope!
