Harpist

LallyHay, 31 December, 2010 at 09:55 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi,

With less than 7 months to go me and H2B had a sudden idea of having a Harpist playing during the ceremony (whilst we were trying to choose the ceremony music last night). Has anyone been to a wedding with a harpist - we would want them to play whilst people were seated, entry of bride, during signing and exit song. Lots of the websites we have looked at say their harpist will then stay for the drinks reception and meal...but do you think this would be a bit too much harp music?

Can anyone recommend a Harpist in Kent?

Thanks

I looked into Harpists for our wedding. We got married in Bristol and had quotes ranging from £355 to £440 for ceremoyny & drinks (2 hours)

In the end we went with a string quartet as I decided I would prefer that, and they could play the signing of the register song I wanted. We had them for 2 hours for around £380. A string trio is usually a bit cheaper and usually just a good - but the song I wanted needed 4.

I used this website to get quotes for harpists - http://www.one-stop-entertainment.co.uk/

We have booked a harpit for our wedding - ceremony and reception drinks.

I think ours is £250 for 3 hours which I think is a bargain as all the other quotes were in excess of £300.

Music on the harp sounds so beautiful Smiley smile

We're getting married in Canterbury and have booked a harpist - I wasn't sure and thought I wanted a string trio - until I heard her play and it was beautiful. It's also a bit different and we thought it was quite a good focal point too....

Anyway! We booked ours through Sarah-Jane at Melisma music - let me know if you want their details.

I was booked to play the piano for a wedding breakfast at a wedding this summer and they had a harpist playing for the drinks reception. The weather was lovely and everybody was outside on the lawns. Unfortunately, you couldn't really hear the harp :-(

If you want an incredible harpist to play for your wedding the I would recommend Claire Jones. She is the harpist to the Prince of Wales and she is exceptional. I know her personally and I was blown away by just how incredible she is.

    Her site is: https://www.clairejones.co.uk/home.php

What pieces have you chosen for your ceremony??
