Has anyone bought a custom made dress from ebay???

jules1506, 28 June, 2008 at 01:42 Posted on Planning 0 4

I have been looking on ebay at the custom made dresses as no-where can get me a dress long enough (6'3 but 6'6 with my wedding shoes on), but I'm really scared to buy from ebay as I don't want it going wrong.

Can anyone tell me if they bought from there and if so who did you use? There are so many to chose from its makeing my head hurt lol. Hope someone can help x

I had a bride into my shop yesterday with the dress she'd had made from a company on ebay......it was dreadful and she was so disappointed that she is having to buy something else! Please avoid it if poss.

On a brighter note - I'm surprised that you are struggling to find something for your height.....I stock a number of companies including D'Zage, Anupam and Phoenix gowns who all offer additional lengths if necessary. You may have to try a shorter length dress in the shop because of the sample we buy...but thay can all have inches added to the length for all you lovely tall ladies.

Email me if you need any more info

    Good luck

    Hi Karina,

Thank you so much for replying to me. I have tried ever bridal shop there is over here (n.ireland) and the most that I can get added on to their standard length is 6inches, plus they are looking to charge me an extra £100 for the trouble!! As our wedding is on an extremely tight budget, I then turned to ebay when I seen that they do custom dresses. I really don't want to have a short dress [:'(] And the other proble is that most companies add the lenght to the bottom of the dress, where I would need it slightly altered at the top as I have a long back.

On a brighter note, I will have a wee nosey at the names you have said, to see if they can calm my fears lol. Again thank you Karina.

    Jules x

Now at the crying stage.....not one of the dress designers are able to help me, so its starting to look like I'm going to have to trust ebay!! Been looking on another site, light in the box, they are on the same lines, so I was going to order my tiara and one BM dress, so see what happens (have a bad feeling lol). I've seen that there was one guy from the UK that can make wedding dresses for a fraction of the cost, but would like to have some reasurance from some fellow hitchers

jules why not get your dress made by a reputable dressmaker in Northern ireland?

There used to be a girl at the back of castlecourt in belfast and her studio was called harlequin. She made my friends dress and bridesmaid dresses and they were fab.

worked out at around £400 for her dress.
