Has anyone completely changed their colour scheme?

Vikster79, 12 August, 2010 at 15:51 Posted on Planning 0 16

I keep having wobbles about our colour scheme as i cant seem to match the colours together. I know i will stick at it and the more i buy the less likley i am to change it haa haa but i just wondered if anyone had changed their colours/theme completely ? ?

Me too! I quite want red but is it a bit overdone? Plus one of my bridesmaids has red hair so we might have clashing issues!

About 3 times, not that that should be surprising coming from me, lol.

First was having pale blue and white, then peacock feathers and teal, then was going for sage green and dusky pink and now we're back to pale blue again, have brought all the BM's dresses and waistcoats so not changing again now........although i do still think of other colour schemes i like, lol.

I didn't even pick my colour scheme. I picked BMs dresses I liked the fit of, they only came in 5 colours and 4 were horrible! Blue it is then!

Could always go with multicoloured - can have as many different colours as you like!

Yeah, we started off with purple, then cornflower blue, then teal and now we're onto British Racing Green (h2b's favourite colour!). Determined to stick with this one though!

Are you a teal girl Vikster? Were you worried about this before? It's ringing a bell....

Took me ages to decide but I've kept to mine - dusky pink. However....I found it impossible to match everything completely so in the end just thought stuff it and though this is still my scheme, I have a bit of a mix of pinks and a little purple, with silver and ivory. I think (crosses fingers) it will look quite nice though. I didn't want to get all het up over the chair sashes not completely matching the BMs dress so after a brief stressy phase and some wise advice on here, decided to just have a looser theme which has made my life soooo much easier!

It depends if you are okay with that though, as I know a lot of people want things just so.

I went to a teal wedding last week actually - teal bridesmaids and they teamed it with yellow (bouquets etc were sunflowers) and lemon chair sashes and table runners. It looked ace!

    What is your colour scheme?

Mine was dictated by the main colour of OH's kilt, it's purple.

I didn't really have a preference but after joining hitched and seeing all the lovely teal combo's and the vintage/shabby chic schemes I do often find myself having colour scheme envy/wobbles!

Originally I was going to go with Ivory and Purple as I'd seen BM dresses I like. Now I don't like them and think purple is too dark so I've gone all vintage; Ivory and dusky pink or Ivory and Pale sage green. Depends on my BM dresses at the mo, which I go for.. Still need to choose.

As OH is wearing his family tartan, I had a ready-made colour palette IYSWIM. His tartan is red, navy blue and hunter green. I didn't want red bridesmaid dresses, my best friend is having a blue themed wedding 2 months after ours which left the hunter green. Luckily, it's a gorgeous colour ?

OH's sister got married at the weekend - her bridesmaid was in teal with teal accents on the invitations, table plan and table numbers. Her flowers were ivory, peach and bright orange roses. It looked really good. Her OH and the groomsmen had a much bluer (is that a word!) cravat/pocket square but you really couldn't tell uless you were really looking for it.

I'm sure whatever colour(s) you pick will look lovely.

Yep its teal, but am thinking of adding coffee/copper accents to go with the feather. Just wondering if the tables will look really plain without much colour on them. Having teal chair sashes and the centrepiece but then what else can i use to make the colour "pop"....table runner??

have you seen these? They're in debenhams at the mo. I love them - in 'real life' they're a lovely dusky, rose pink. I'd already got mine and compromised a bit on the shade, if I could do it all again I'd snap up these bad boys! I think you're right to hold off for definite on the colour scheme until you know the colour exactly of the BM dresses, I felt quite restricted only being able to shop for dusky pink, especially as I was hoping to get them from the high street.

I hadn't bought anything, but originally my plan was dusky pinks and browns - then I saw our venue with its red and gold chairs and massive red curtain and realised that wouldn't quite work and reverted to gold->cream. We bought lovely gold ribbon from john lewis that was part see through - viscose-y type stuff and had that along the tables to tie in.

Oh, re the dusky pink dresses someone's posted, my friend has these in red - they look stunning on, that's not a good pic as the poster says!

This company do table runners and overlays, and are good quality for the price, but if you are having chair sashes, I'd talk to the company about getting some table runners in the same material otherwise they won't match properly! Think copper accents will look amazing xx

My colour scheme is Teal too. wasn't set on this colour but then found beautiful invitations that were teal and it all evolved from that. we have teal coloured confetti to go on the tables, along with teal chair sashes. We are having fish bowls with ivory roses in and the gel crystals that go in the bottom are being dyed teal too. only 8 days to go!

    xx

Mine was going to be black and white but we had a few negative reactions from people over this and so changed it (which we shouldn;t have done as it's our day not other peoples!). We are now having gold, brown and cream and our wedding is in the autumn, so it should all look quite good. It was a nightmare trying to get bridesmaids dresses however!

I changed my colour scheme. It was originally going to be autumn themed with lots of burnt orange and brown, then we were at a wedding fayre and I fell in love with a dark purple BM dress, so that was it colour scheme changed.

When the model walked out in the dress I looked at my Mum and said 'I love that dress!!' Just as my OH turned to my Dad and said 'C will love that dress!!' OH knows me too well ? x
