Has anyone decided to skip the wedding breakfast?

Welcome! Sounds a perfectly acceptable idea to me ? and certainly not out of the ordinary.

I'm not too keen on the full breakfast thing (other than in the morning ?) so looking at a 2pm ceremony with afternoon tea, followed by hog roast/bbq in the evening. that way people can have something light at lunch time while we all get ready, what will be a much needed cuppa afterwards, then 'proper' food later

Thank you for your reply. Feel a bit better after speaking to some friends who think it may also be a good idea. Do you plan on doing speeches still? Just wondering when you would do them? I went to a wedding fayre yesterday and found the perfect venue so really want to get the ball rolling and book for early next year

Personlly I'm not too bothered by speeches. IT will be second time round for each of us, so we've done the big traditional thing already. If anyone wants to say something they will be more than welcome, but we will just go with it on the day and see what happens.

Not sure about when - maybe once everyone was in the room with a drink in hand and before the canapes came out?

My friend is having a 3pm wedding, no formal sit down meal, we're all making or own way from church to reception venue and she's having a hot buffet for day time and evening guests together a bit later no. No probs! I'm not sure what she's doing about cake cutting and speeches but I imagine they'll do that over drinks before the buffet opens?

Think this is the way we are goin to do it. Don't have a big budget but enough to have a lovely wedding. Just hope people will enjoy it and not get bored

Im having a late ceremony at 3/3:30pm then straight on to reception with BBQ buffet, bouncy castle drinks and dancing. We are going to fit cake cutting and speeches in when people having a drink while the foods cooking on the BBQ..
