Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) of Landy Bridal??

WeddingPrincess, 3 August, 2009 at 18:42 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hey Guys!

I have spotted some potential BM dresses on a website called Landy Bridal. I really like them in the pic and they are pretty much what i had in mind. I have emailed the company to get some more info - can they be custom made re length, colour etc and have found out about their returns policy (they have to be back within 7 days and I would have to pay a 30% re-stocking fee) and it all seems quite good but something is stopping me from going ahead with it!!

It might be the fact that they are REALLY cheap, 76 euros so about £66 at the moment if my calculations are correct and it maybe just seems a little bit too good to be true! The other thing is that I am having 6 BM's (i know!!) and they have recomended that i get all 6 at once to ensure their will be no difference in colour which I guess does make sense but i am just a little wary of getting them all just to end up not liking them!

I think this company are the one that do mega cheap copies of wedding dresses and was just wondering if anyone had any stories or experiences to share before I make a decision.

I would REALLY appreciate your help with this one!!

Thanks in advance

Hhhmmm.... no personal experience myself I'm afraid but I think I'd be like you and a bit wary too.... there's a reason why they're so cheap and I believe in that old adage that "you get what you pay for"!

Not sure if their buy them all at once is a sales ploy but the material could vary if you didn't. If you've got six BMs do you not know someone who is handy with the sewing machine, or a local dressmaker, fashion student etc who, if you provided all the material, could run these up for you... probably for cheaper than the Landy ones!

    Hi,

2 Hitchers have used Landy and both had a good experience from what I remember although please don't quote me. One called Nutsy but she hasn't been around much since her wedding and another that I can't for the life of me remember. The second hitcher although liked the dress decided not to wear it but that was due to deciding against the style instead of the quality.

Anyway I'll try and do a bit of searching for you.

This link mentions Landy and it was Ms T to Mrs B that got her dress but then choose another one - https://www.hitched.co.uk/Chat/forums/t/98747.aspx

and Nutsy has posted on this link - https://www.hitched.co.uk/Chat/forums/p/72367/728898.aspx.

If you want further information I have Nutsy's email so could email her for you and ask her to have a look on Hitched.

no personal experience but on another forum I use a few of the brides have got their wedding dresses from there and were very happy. I do think you could get dresses from the high street for that price though, and these aren't much more than that http://www.girlsofelegance.co.uk/

No problem, glad to have helped.

To put a picture up you need to have it saved on your computer and then click the 'insert media' button which looks like a film real when you are in the 'reply/post' section.

Or have the picture saved on flickr for example and just copy and paste.

    Hi,

I got my dress from Landy and I was super impressed. The dress arrived before they said it would and although bundled up pretty small (and therefore a bit creased), the weight and finish was incredible given the price tag. Both mums were also very impressed. The fit was great (if slightly on the larger side, though I'd just ordered a straight size 10, not custom). I would say not to expect a £300 dress for £66 in terms of finish - e.g. my bodice had lace beading sewn onto it rather than each bead individually sewn on. However, the overall look is very similar to more expensive gowns and if it's a bargain you want, I'd recommend Landy! Good luck.

Oh, and you can see pics of my dress on a reasonably recent dress flash thread (I'm not sure how to find it, but if you trawl through the pages should be not too far away.)

Also, if you're really unsure, I would suggest getting one dress, as a sample and if you are happy with it, then order 6 more. That way it would cost you £66 extra, but it might be worth if for the peace of mind, and safer than ordering all 6 and not liking them. My dress came in about a month, so you would have plenty of time.

Final thing! Before I ordered my dress, I searched the internet pretty thoroughly and found some massive threads of people who had ordered from Landy. I didn't find a single negative response (though some more neutral) and found lots of pics of people's dresses from there. Maybe you could do the same? I can't remember the sites, but it's not too hard to search for.

That's stunning why don't you get one in a different colour to wear at a party so you can see the quality.
