Have you had your Dress made (copy) from china or us?

CarlaNath2013, 15 November, 2011 at 22:06 Posted on Planning 0 4

Was just interested to know , and were you happy and do you have flashes? Do they compromise in quality or do they in general do a good job.

And if anyone has and is happy can you recommend anyone Thanks x

Am sorry that I cannot recommend any overseas suppliers, but can warn against Helene bridal. They are a Chinese supplier, but their website & the fact you pay in US dollars might make you think they are US.

Maybe I got a one off, dreadful dress, & others may have bought fantastic dresses from them, I can only comment on the thing they delivered to me. I had a qualified seamstress measure me, but the dress supplied had a bodice 2 inches too low on the hips, straps falling off, 2 inches too short at the hem, a seam across the waist (not in original), zip instead of corset back & a gaping, enormous bust area, maybe 3 sizes too big. Just trying the thing on, I was literally dripping in sweat as the whole thing was cheap nylon or polyester. They had attached 2 bin bags full of tulle under the skirt, again not in the original. In an attempt to reduce the 1 foot of extra padding on each hip cause by this, I cut all the tulle off.

I emailed them to complain, & was told to supply photos of me in the dress, so all their staff could see me! They wouldn't accept it back as was made-to-measure!

I didnt expect the exact original Maggie Sottero dress for the price I paid, but would have thought it would be at least wearable, even with a few alterations. The 'dress' was unwearable, even as a bad Halloween costume.

I know others have had much better experiences from other companies, but PLEASE avoid Helene bridal.

I ordered 3 bridesmaid dresses from this ebay seller

2 in the style below and the 3rd I mailed her a pic and got it made for me. Absolutely delighted with all 3, they are gorgeous and even though the comms were a bit rubbish they came in a timely manner and are so well made.

Got mine from jasminebridalshop. At that time, they were offering "no payment til you see the pictures of the dress" deal. I too made a lot of research on many sellers. They are much more expensive than those you find in ebay but they have a facebook page showing all the photos of the dress they made. I checked with them on the material they are going to use, ensuring they dont look cheap before ordering.

Overall, satisfactory but not 100% though because I've tried on the real dress. But for the price, it's ok. There's many people who ask where I got the dress. Even some of my photographer's client asked about it.

They are more expensive now though. For the same dress I ordered back in January 2011, it's about £100 more expensive.

Have a look on their FB page

    Good Luck!
