Head table

Ivorybride2014, 10 September, 2013 at 09:59 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi

Traditionally who is ment to sit on the head table and who is on your head table?

I'm having real trouble with this and am seriously thinking of having just myself, my partner and our 2 children on ours.

Thanks,

Leanne

Bride and Groom, Parents, Best man and Maid of honour is traditional but I would suggest you have who you want......It's your wedding!

    Hi

People have so many different things now. Just have whoever you want. Traditionally it's bride, groom, both sets.of parents, maid of honour and best man. I've been to a wedding before when just the bride and groom sat on there own table.

Your day, your way Smiley smile good luck

I say have who you want. We are having (sat in this order) brides Mum, Brides Dad, Bride, Groom, Grooms mum, Grooms dad ... all probably the wrong way round but its how we want it.

Best man and bridemaids were given the option of sitting with their partners or at the head table - all wanted to sit with partners understandably.

I think the top table you and your kids would look lovely.

I agree to have who you want! We're having grooms parents, my parents, best man, maid of honour and her husband ( we were originally having the best man's wife also as she can't speak much english, so didn't want to overwhelm her, but she can't come now anyway!)

We're having ourselves, my parents, his parents, best man, chief bridesmaid and h2b's 2 daughters.

I think these days it's personal choice who you have on the top table.

From left to right (as a guest looks at the top table) the traditional order is MOH - FOG - MOB - Groom - Bride - FOB - MOG - BMan

But there are so many variations. What if you have divorced parents? What if those divorced parents have remarried? What if you have children? What if your Best Man is a Best Woman?

    Have what suits you best.

The wedding I worked at on Saturday had a sweetheart table - just the B&G. They are becoming more and more popular.

That sounds lovely. You can keep with tradition in having both sets of parents but if you don't want to then don't. Simples.

It didn't suit us to have parents with us, so we had Bride & Groom, my son and the best man and his family. It was lovely.

    Do what suits you.
