Head Table Plan - HELP !!!

ESW, 27 May, 2012 at 10:46 Posted on Planning 0 9

Ok so I got into crafty mode last night and decided to do my table plan (well start it). All gone to plan really happy with myself and then this morning my OH said 'don't I sit on the other side' - WHAT ? came out quite loadly. Then panic hit me!

So now I'm stuck, I have looked on the inspiration on here and a few other websites and they do both ! Which is traditional, we are having a long head table and I thought I went to his left so that his right arm was free to grab his sword and defend me ? or is that just the cereomony. But then thinking of weddings I've been to I would be on his right!

HELP Please before the glue dries !

I believe 'traditionally' when you face the top table groom is on the left and bride on the right, well that's what we're having!

But yes you would be on his left!

    Although I may be wrong!?!!

I sat on the right side of Boy (on the left as you looked at us). I cared not one jot if it was traditional or not - I didn't look up the 'correct' formation!

When facing us, H was on the left and me on the right.

I made this decision based purely on the fact I was thinking of having a Mr&Mrs sign in front of us and I wanted us to be 'behind' the correct word. I didn't have a sign in the end but stuck with the layout.

    No idea what's traditional.

    We're having:

grooms neice grooms dad brides mum groom bride brides dad grooms mum

(BSL signer ) (also is Best Man)

Unconventional as it uneven but we need a signer on the top table and we dont have a separate best man.

We arent putting a bridesmaid on top table as they make a perfect table with bridesmaids and partners and I dont want to make one feel different to the others

We dont care whats traditional. I put Grooms name first on invites as I wanted it to be his day as much as mine.

Were not really worrying about any traditions

I think if you want 'traditional' then this is right ESW as mostly everyone else has said the same!

I've only put myself and OH the traditional way around though as usually parents from each side of family sit next to each other i.e. my mum with OH's dad but knew my mum wouldn't want to sit next to him (not in a bad way lol) so I've put both sets of 'parents' next to us....my top table looks like this:

BEST MAN USHER FOG MOG GROOM BRIDE MOB BOB(lol brother as no dad) BM CBM

And my plans are coming along nicely thanks, not long for us now!! Howz everything going with you?

Ok so we are not having a traditional head table in the sense, my dad is coming but won't be on it (long story) and my brother is giving me away so at the moment its like this, OH dad is not coming either, both our parents are seperated and a long time ago, so we have:

BM, Son of Groom, our daughter, MOB OH, Me, my brother, MOG, BM and OH daughter (also a BM).

Things are coming together still waiting for the BM dresses to arrive, bought there shoes this week and they all like them and fit (YES!). Need to go underwear shopping still, and finalise the ceremony we want and the music, don't need to do this till early August but need to get OH in the wedding mood he has man flu at the moment so anything wedding he turns his nose up. So I thought I would get some crafty bits out of the way while he is out of the way.
