Headband

Serafina, 19 July, 2009 at 15:21 Posted on Planning 0 11

I'm having a bit of a 'vintage' style to my wedding and I'm really keen on the idea of a headband with detail to one side rather than a traditional tiara. I love this one from Carrie Yeo (below) but at £120 it's out of budget. Has anyone seen anything similar for sale elsewhere?

You can get a similar effect with a single row headband and a comb, but I'm sure someone on here can make you something similar.

    Ooooooooooh, that headband is gorgeous!

Could you get a metal hairband off-of eBay, and then find a lovely vintage brooch, then attach it with fishing line? It's a much cheaper alternative! lol

That's kind of what I'll be having. 'Scuse rubbish phone pics:

Mine was from White Fairy - she's a hib on here. Wasn't cheap though as it was made from vintage jewellery!

It's gorgeous though - I probably love it more than my dress!

    Thanks for all your suggestions!

Katie V- I really like that one you've suggested, if I had some thing like that, but in plain crystals with some leaf-shaped diamante and perhaps some light-ivory pearls, what sort of price would I be looking at? Feel free to email/PM me.

The other option that I'm considering is using a real vintage brooch that my grandmother gave me, and having it made into a headband. My worries about this though are that once it is 'transformed' into a headband I'd no longer be able to use it as a brooch (which I would after the wedding otherwise, unlike a headband). Also, I'd have to entrust someone with it whilst they worked on it and I'd worry about its safety! Also, I'm not sure that it would work out any cheaper anyway.

This is the brooch from my grandmother:

And these are some clips I have that I was planning to use in the back of my hair:

Thanks I've already looked at, and loved, some of the pieces on your website but unfortunately they're also out of budget.

Having said that, you have a stockist near me in Sheffield so I'll pop along and see anyway.

Why don't you have a go at attaching it temporarily yourself with really thin florist wire , if you get a single row headband like https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/headbands_diamante_pearl.htm at the top, the wire would catch in between the stones and stop ot sliding down. Worth a go and it wouldn't damage the brooch. You could try it with another brooch first and then take it apart. Your other alternative could be to see if your hairdresser could fix the comb in your hair as it is with kirby grips. That should be possible too.

    Hi Serafina

Unfortunately Hitched never really works 110% for me (unless it is just me!) but I can't PM people! And I don't know your email address either. Feel free to email me at ****@****************.*** & I can help you more. If I did you the head-band picture, but with the pearls & diamontes too you'd be looking at approx £30-5, depending on what size you wanted etc. I also give a Hicthers discount of 10% which would be taken off of that too.

Feel free to email me if you want to discuss any further.

And also I think the hair pins are very pretty & your brooch is gorgeous!
