Headgear - veils/hair down?

brideseekingblush, 5 November, 2009 at 10:57 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hello ladies. Now I have the dress, my thoughts are moving to my head. I quite fancy a veil, but my hair doesn't look good up (I was thinking of something similar to a half ponytail with the bits outside curled). Has anyone done veils with hair down? I want to avoid a tiara as well 'cos OH hates them! TIA

My maid of honour had hair in half ponytail with her hair slightly curled she did have her hair high on top for her tiara but she did have a veil on the back of her head.

I am going with a half pony tail with my hair curled ,at the moment I'm saying no tiara and the veil put in on top towards the back.

    Hopes this helps.

Very helpful LL thanks! Just went on a veil site and everyone seemed to have their hair up in buns etc - with a roundish face that's just not going to work for me!

Course you can have your hair down with a veil, often looks really nice. just be aware you have to attach it somehow, usually with a comb so that will affect your hairstyle to some extent. also think about if you want to take your veil off for the reception and what your hair will be doing then. Very much so. Thank you. Smiley smile I really like the idea of a long ivory and gold one - anyone one seen one similar?

I've got bob length hair and had a veil but no tiara and I think it looked good - there's pics on my website at the bottom of this page:

    Hello

Yeah this isn't a problem to wear your hair down with a veil at all. I'll see if I can dig a picture out of a bride wearing one like it. You'd just need to make sur eyou have the right length veil to suit you. When you have your next dress fitting, make sure you try on lots of different lengths & you should get a feel for which suits you & your dress best.

I have an inverted bob and went for a headband rather than a tiara and/or veil. Not sure if you can see it from my avatar - unfortunately, I haven't got any pics on this computer than I can upload.

I've seen loads of brides with long hair down and a veil and it always looks lovely.

Thanks so much everyone. And Katie thanks for the advice - I'll try on a few different ones. It's funny, from wanting everything oh-so-plain my dress/surrounding is getting bigger and bigger...

Ha ha! I think that happens to a lot of people - everything ends up being the opposite of what was the original intention! As said your wedding dress shop should have a lot of different veils & lengths for you.
