Heathrow to Central London (hyde park) by taxi or car

NeoShoegal, 25 June, 2008 at 12:04 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

How long would it take to drive that distance on a Saturday around lunch time?

Any idea how much it would cost by taxi?

I dread to think but I found this on google

    And this:

"London licensed taxis are available from outside each terminal for travel within the London area. The approximate cost from Heathrow to central London is £ 46-50 with an average journey time of one hour."

Do you have to drive? I think a train would be the much better and quicker option.

I don't know if you have a particular reasons for not using the tube but it couldn't be easier from Heathrow to Hyde Park - just Picaddilly line all the way.

In light traffic, takes around 50 mins, costs about 60- quid-ish. unless you have equipment with you, i d say take the tube unless you cant be doing with it, like me ?

or take the paddington express, and get a cab from there to HP, or walk. it isnt far

If you mean picking up a black cab at the airport you're probably looking at £50 and depending on traffic - could be about 40 mins

Btw if you do need to get a cab, a minicab might be cheaper than black cab. Either book in advance or find one on the day and negotiate a price in advance. You might be able to get it for around £35.

Can't take train or tube due to the amount of equipment we'll be dragging along, so would really have to be either our own car or a taxi

If you take your own car you ll have congestion charge and then high parkiong charges to contend with. if youre there all day, it may well balance out to be no cheaper than taking cabs.

The congestion charge is £8 right? I know the parking location would be £25 for the day. It would need to be a return trip.

So that's what I'm trying to work, if it would be cheaper to get a taxi or drive ourselves.

ETA: would prefer a taxi as I don't like the idea of having to drive in London

Factor in fuel costs and reckon you can justify a cab. Try calling Addison Lee for a quote, or google minicab heathrow and see what you can find...

NB/ There's no CC on the weekend so that wouldn't be a problem if you're going on Saturday...

Remember it also depends on the terminal !

Before T5 opened all our flights went from T1 and it would cost a max of £30 to get a black cab back home (Twickenham) & only £18 to get there, now that the BA flights (and soon to be others) are at T5 our last taxi bill to come home was nearer £50 with similar traffic etc....we have decided to take our own car & park next time ☹️

We wouldn't actually be going from one of the terminals but from a hotel near Heathrow (Crowne Plaza) as staying there for 2 nights costs us far less than 1 night near Hyde Park, which leaves us the "spare" money to spend on a taxi

http://www.ukairportchauffeurs.com/ Give these people a call. We liver near Hyde Park and use them to get to Heathrow if it's early morning and they're always reasonable.

Addison Lee are ridculolusly expensive. We use Twickenham Green cars and they're pretty reasonable. There's also a company called Black & White who are a bit pricier, but have nicer cars.

Heathrow to Hyde Park on a Saturday afternoon would take a good hour I reckon.
