Hello!

Priscilla42, 16 February, 2010 at 14:05 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi everyone I'm new here, hoping to get lots of good tips and advice!

I'm getting married in June this year and it was only booked about a week ago so I'm a bit all over the place!

My main headache at the moment is the colour scheme - my h2b is military and wants his battle honours included in the decorations which should be fine as it's a red and yellow rose. However I don't want to be overwhelmed by red and yellow - neither of my bridesmaids would suit either colour and I think it would be a bit garish!

I quite like the idea of the overall colour scheme being dark green, so would a red and yellow rose here and there look ok within this, or would it just clash and look odd? I'm finding it hard to visualise at the moment!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Juliet x

Hi and welcome. I would take the girls shopping to see what suits them then decide on the colour scheme. You can always let the groom have his button hole in the colour he wants!

Well if its advice, tips etc you are after, you are definately in the right place!

I think Sherrie is a good one to ask about colour schemes, and im sure there is a way you will be able to incorporate H2B's colours in one way or another! x

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone Smiley smile

Sherrie the uniform is dark navy with red detail, but he'll only be wearing this for the ceremony as it's not very comfortable! He'll be in a dark grey suit (probably) for the rest of the day.

The battle honour itself just looks like this http://www.military-badges.co.uk/TRF%201%20R.%20Anglian.jpg but it's also represented by a red and yellow rose, so he wants to have a few of these included in the flowers.

I was thinking maybe dark green and white as a main colour scheme with the red and yellow roses dotted around for some bright accents... what do you think?

Yep I think it will work, you could have the Groom's buttonhole with a Red & Yellow Rose or calla lily and then have your flowers as either Yellow or Red, I think Navy as a main colour would be good with the Yellow or Red as an accent colour, here are some ideas:

Thanks Sherrie, that's a very pretty setup! Ooh lots to think about, think I should visit a nice friendly florist and run through some ideas...

I'm not doing too badly actually, have already bought my dress and the church and venue are both sorted... the next big headache is the guest list as H2B has a huuuge family and our reception venue only has a capacity of 80! Luckily my family is quite small hahaha.

Problem is that he has been in Afghan for 4 months and is going back there for another 2 months next week so we are trying to get as much done in a very short space of time! Understandably when he's out there he's got more important things on his mind than guest lists and flower arrangements so it's pretty hard work...
