Hello!

Katey84, 28 August, 2010 at 12:23 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi

I'm new on here, just browsing for ideas as I am right at the beginning of the planning stages! Not getting married for about 2 years!

But still so excited!

While I'm on here- anybody got good ideas of where I can get old fashioned sweet jars as we know we are definitely having a sweet buffet! Also, any ideas for cheap wedding invitations etc? We've budgetted quite alot but dont want to go OTT with cost!

    Hi Katey,

welcome to hitched. Don't worry about it being 2yrs away, it'll fly by. When I first joined here it was well over 2yrs but it's gone so fast.

There's many places you can get old fashioned sweets and jars, the best for the jars would be ebay but I know of a couple of good sweet websites.

Invitations now a days are so expensive now a days. I first thought i'd make mine but found now you can get them for just as cheap. Vistaprint comes highly recommened. And if you sign up you will be sent many offers so you can parcticularly get your invties for free.

If your after a cheaper dress then landy bridal or light in the box are recommened. Many brides on here use them.

Cakes well a DIY option, from M&S or Tesco.

Hope you enjoy hitched and welcome to the family. If your 2012 bride there's a thread started you can talk in.

    Jenny. x

Hi and welcome to Hitched! I had over 2 years to go when I joined too, and I was also mega excited. Have you tried Ebay for the jars? And wedding invitaions you could make yourself, as I'm doing, or try Ebay or Vistaprint? xx

I got the plain invites and envelopes for £7, and ribbon for £3, little flowers for a few quid and then a bit of card that says invitation for a few quid...so about £15-£20 for 50 invites potentially although we don't need that many x

? hello & welcome to hitched. I don't know anything about sweet jars but I made my own invites & ordered cards & inserts (I made pocketfold invites) from pdf card which was very reasonable.

    Welcome to hitched!

I had over 2 years when I first joined, but then the wedding was brought forward!

I had a sweet table - bought a load of Jars in Ikea, sweets from places like macro and then sold the Jars on after the wedding

Invitations....mine were from Vistaprint as I wanted postcard style ones - think it worked out about £8 for 100 because of some special offer!
