Hello!

Hi everyone!! I tried posting earlier but it seems to have vanished or I did it wrong so trying again!

So excited to be joining - our wedding has been "in planning" for about 7 years now but had to be postponed due to the cost of renovating our house.

We are getting married in Venice on 24 May 2014 and having a do back here when we return at Squerreys Court in a marquee (we had this booked previously and have paid about 40% in deposits so don't want to lose it - but we have decided on on intimate wedding for about 36 of us in Italy and a church blessing and receiption back in the UK on 14 June 2014).

I have a question - what do you all think of live music/wedding singers? I am interested in hiring one but am not sure now. I found a guy I really liked and have the budget for it but a few people I have mentioned it to have said they think a live singer (does 1 1/2 hours singing and the rest DJing - 3 sets of 30 mins or 2 of 45 mins) would "flatten" the party and possibly slow it down and that people may leave the dance floor - lack of the flow in music. What do you think? I would be so upset if the party was rubbish!!!!

Thanks

    Hello! Welcome along ?

You are one patient lady! Your plans sound lovely so far.

I don't see any 'problem' as such with live music being mixed with DJ as I think most bands or singers have a interval inbetween sets?

We are looking at a band who will supply music during their interval and we will probably have the evening food served at this point anyway and then after the second set of music I am sure they will keep in style/mood to keep the flow as it were!

Don't know if this is much help as we are still quite undecided about music too...!!

    Hello and welcome!

We had a band (played Kinks, Killers, Beatles etc) and they dj'd in between sets - they were absolutely brilliant. People still talk about them now (nearly 6 months on).

Yeah I agree, I went to a wedding a few months ago and they had a band and everyone loved it. It was the same as Kharv's, playing the Killers etc and loads of people were on the dancefloor. They also included a bit of interactivity and got the bride and groom up to have a kind of a drum-off (sounds weird but it worked and everyone was cheering and it was just good fun)
