SevenYears
Beginner August 2016

Hello!

SevenYears, 31 August, 2013 at 20:19 Posted on Planning 0 11

I would like to introduce myself - I am Claire and my fiancé (still getting used to calling him this!) is Adam. I have been 'lurking' for a while - if truth be told, before he proposed!

We met at University, in a bar on 23rd May 2006, becoming friends first and then getting together on 28th August 2006 (I have a stupidly good memory!). After University, we moved in together.

Last week Ad took me away for our Seven Year (hence the user name) anniversary, having very successfully convinced me that he would NOT be proposing - I had been dropping sledge hammer style hints for quite some time and was a little sad on the morning when no ring was produced. However, he took me to Castle Howard (I am a country house fan and this was on my list of places to visit) and we looked around the house. We then walked to the lake and sat on a bench over looking it. We sat for some while and eventually he said 'oh look at that twig' - me still being convinced he would not propose - got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I had a little cry and he had to ask again - of course I said yes.

It turns out that he bought the ring in May and then had hidden it in our spare room!

We are hoping to marry in August 2016, which will mark our 10 years together.

I look forward to finding out some more hints, tips and inspiration from you all.
