Hello and bridesmaid dress help

CaseyJ13, 11 August, 2013 at 00:16 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi,

I've been lurking for a few months now and loving reading about everyone's weddings. I'm getting married in November and starting to get a bit worried about all the stuff that I need to go.

Anyway... that brings me on to my bridesmaid dress dilemma. I'm just have one dress to get and am looking for a chocolate brown dress, probably floor length and probably with sleeves. I want to get something that she will look good in but she's a totally different shape to me so I have no idea what style will suit her and she doesn't do dresses normally so doesn't have any idea either! So, what sort of style/shape of dress should I be looking at for someone who is about 5'3", around a size 18 (I think) and quite apple-shaped? I feel like I have been browsing dresses for ages and just don't know what will work because they always seem to be modelled on tall, skinny girls ☹️

Could you go shopping together to try a few styles of dresses on to get a feel for what suits her and what she feels comfortable rather than just browsing because you might end up settling on something that isn't right for her.

I agree- go shopping with your bridesmaid.

My bridesmaid is very thin, and it's surprising how many styles looked like a dog's breakfast on her (which I would not have predicted at all)

Alfred Angelo do a chocolate brown (espresso) and they have a wide range of dresses. (My BM will be wearing an Alfred Angelo)

Why not go together to a department store like John Lewis and try their personal shopping department. I'm pretty sure it's free. You're probably a bit tight on time to order ones from bridal stores now.
