Hello from another newbie!

Just thought I would say hello to you all! I stumbled across this site while doing some wedding research online and it looks like a fab place for planning tips! There seems to be a few newbies joining and it's nice to find lots of people as excited as me! I got engaged in January this year, after almost 6 years together. We have just booked our church and reception venue for 24th July 2010 and I want to start organising everything else now but am trying to pace myself. Any tips on what to do next would be greatly appreciated as I've got a list of things to do but no idea what order to do them in!

    Being a newbie I am also in the same position as you!

    We have booked our venue and photographer but not much else yet. Tips would be very helpful for me also!

    Hello Ally! I am getting married the day after you, so very nearly a date twin!

    We wanted the 24th originally but that, as well as most Saturdays in the summer of 2010, were already taken when we went to book our venue. So settled on a Sunday instead!

    Welcome to Hitched, you'll love it here ?

    Edited to add: The way I have done it so far is venue first, then photographer, then videographer, and am now having flower consultations. Don't need a DJ as ours is included in our package, but that's another thing to think about earlier. Also maybe cars if you're having them? Think it's a good idea to get the bigger things out of the way first.

    I'm looking to go bridesmaid dress shopping in July-August time this year, and then start my dress hunt shortly after.

    Nice to already nearly have a date twin Stazzle! I couldn't believe how many places were already booked when we started looking. We really wanted a Saturday and were limited by quite a few factors, I'm a teacher so it had to be school holidays, a member of the family had already booked a holiday (!), needed a church and a reception venue etc, so we were so relieved to get it all booked. Now I just don't know how I'm going to wait over 15 months!
