Hello Sunshine - your EA issues

Consuela Banana Hammock, 26 June, 2008 at 13:02 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

I live in Harborne so I'm interested in what you were saying on Pooch's thread about EA issues. I assume you've tried Englands? As far as we were aware, they were the only agents worth bothering with? Please say you haven't found differently?!

Hiya, well we wanted to go with Englands in the first place but they wouldn't touch us as they've closed their Quinton branch and the Harborne branch thought we were too far away from their office.

    All I can say is don't touch Dixons with a barge-pole ?

Hell, no. We didn't even bother going in there to look for houses when we bought this one. I would have thought Connells or Halifax were probably the only other ones were bothering with? Don't rate Chamberlains, Douglas Estates are a joke and Hadleigh overprice their houses. Doesn't leave a lot of choice does it? ?

    Exactly ?

Well, we're on with Humberstones at the mo, and they're lovely but not exactly setting the world on fire. Very Quinton focused. The next one we're considering is Scrivens, but we'll probably only move to them if we decide to rent out as they do lettings.

As we're paying for two properties now that might not be a too distant decision really, eek.

Have you tried Barstow Eves? They were pretty good when we purchased this house. I'd use them if we were to sell. Houses around us aren't selling at all. Two on our road have been for sale for over a year and nothing! It's not good as they always used to fly off the shelves as they are sought after for the area. I am sure it will pick up though.

Which part of Quinton are you in?

Pooch, we're on the estate between the Expressway and the motorway which doesn't sound too appealing but in reality is v quiet and popular due to the primary schools nearby. They usually sell well on here which is what worries us really. If this latest reduction doesn't generate anything we will have to go for rental as it's costing us a bomb.

I didn't realise you were both so close by!

Oh, to add, I couldn't believe it but Bairstowe Eves are part of the same group as Dixons!

    Thanks ?

Sadly not so local now as we've moved to Leeds, but we are down there at least once a month to check on the house. Incidentally, do either of you know of a gardener who could do our lawns for us?!

Not off the top of my head but I'd probably check www.yell.com and try under B17.

Sorry I haven't been following your story but I take it you are looking for an estate agents. I have just started working for a company this week called WOW property who are soley internet based but advertise on all the property portals, but there biggest selling point is that they provide a fixed fee of £999 inrespective of property size/value etc. They state no sale no fee aswell.

With them being internet based they are actually national wide with valuers all over the country. The reason they are able to provide the fixed fee service is they don't have offices so can keep the costs down.

If you want to know anything else pm me

That wasn't meant to turn into a sales pitch............sorry?
