    Hi smoomoo

    Welcome to hitched.

I'm from Sale and have been having a scout around our area looking for good places and I think that Cheshire Bridal Wear, Goose Green are having a sale on at the minute. They are lovely and v. helpful

However, you have quite a while before the wedding so don't rush into buying anything straight away as there will undoubtedly be bargains coming up and you may even be able to pick up a bridesmaid dress in the end of year sales when they are getting rid of all the evening dresses.

Thankyou amee there site looks good especially on the offers page. btw my name is Aimee (sort of like yours!!)

now just need to drop some hints to my dad! my mum has offered to pay for the church and organ and let me off £600 i owe her so i can save it. My Mother in law to be has offered to buy the bridesmaid dresses, favours and h2b's suit and i have worked out i can save £6k between now and the date. does this sound ok? Where are you getting married btw? does anyone know if you have to pay for the church and recpetion when you book it or can you pay nearer the date?

    :o)

Sounds like you are doing really well on the financial front!

We are having a pretty small wedding and on the budget I currently have (excluding honeymoon) we hope to come in around 4K so I think you should be ok.

We are getting married in Scotland on NYE and have been really lucky with having friends that are generous/useful. What about you? There are some lovely venues around Cheshire!

On the church/reception payment front I'm not 100% sure.

Welcome smoomoo - cool hitched name!

I'm in scotland so can't help with bridal shop recommendations but on the venue/reception side a deposit should suffice with full payment much nearer the time... not sure about the church (didn't even realise until recently you had to pay to get wed in church!!!)

you've come to a great place for advice and support and a bit of a laugh as long as you don't mind honest opinions if you ask for them (and on occassions when you haven't!)

    Enjoy your planning!

Hi, welcome and congrats on your wedding.

I live in Warrington and I have one gran in Altrincham and another in Little Bollington, so am quite often around,

The only dress shop in Altrincham I know is Pronuptia (although did I read the other the day the had gone under). There are quite a few in the North West though.

For most reception places you only have to pay a deposit and then the balance is not until a few weeks before the wedding so dont panic you have plenty of time to save and from my experience £6k is plenty and dont forget you have plenty of time so you can often pick up a lot of the small things along the way and can often get a bargain when you are not expecting it.

Hi, I'm from South Manchester too, a little closer in though, I'm from Levenshulme. What venue are you having? We had our big day in April, the ceremony was in Manchester Town Hall and the reception was in Manchester Art Gallery.

Can't help you out with dresses I'm afraid, I didn't go for a wedding dress. But can help with recs for ckae, flowers, photographer etc if you like?

    Welcome to hitched!

I'm from over the water so no help as to where you can get a dress near by but why not lok on the net and see what you like, some of the sites will let you know if there are any suppliers nearby.

As for the church/venue payment...probably like all places they will expect a deposit and full payment 48 hours before the wedding but don't quote me on that, you will need to check into that when you book.

Good luck with your planning ?
