Help...

Melawen, 17 July, 2009 at 16:07 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 1

Since I went through puberty I've always been big and since having the small one things haven't improved. For years I've claimed to be happy with it but having lost two of my bras to the washing machine today and knowing that I can't afford to replace them having just moved (and only having a limited number to begin with) has really upset me. So it's time to do something more about it.

Bit of information for you:

I did my back in earlier in the year and gave up chocolate and started a pilates class which for varying reasons I've only managed to get to every other week.

I tried weight watchers before but I'm quite a fussy eater (not by choice believe me) and so struggled with it. I'd really love to be able to eat anything and everything so if anyone knows any ways in which I can retrain my taste buds I'd really appreciate it. Re the food - is there anywhere I can find out about portion control without joining sw or ww? I can't afford to do those at the moment but figure that this might be a good place to start as currently I probably eat the same if not more than my husband which when he's four maybe five inches taller than me isn't good. Ideally I need to lose around 4 stone. I've changed dr's as a result of the move and have an appointment with the nurse as part of the joining process and so would like to go with some plan in hand almost of what I'm doing.

I have a wii fit which I haven't been using because of the move but am happy to do that - I've also got an exercise bike that because of the move I'm now able to use again. So if I do the pilates class (and try and go every week), try and go swimming once a week (and I don't mean the waterbabies class with my daughter) and do both a couple of sessions on the exercise bike and the wii - will that be enough on the exercise front?

I guess you're also going to see more of me over here too for support and advice. I guess it doesn't help my mood that we're trying for number 2 and it's taking longer than I hoped and I'm guessing my weight won't help although I don't weigh any more than last time!

TIA!

I can't help with the food questions but for the exercise the way I'm looking at it is you have to start somewhere and anything is better than nothing to begin with.

I always fail because I set myself unrealistic goals.

So I have started exercising this week and for this week I am doing the wii fit every other day and I do a lot of walking anyway so i am power walking instead of dawdling.

I have ordered wii active and hopefully next week i will alternate days with both of them if I feel ready for that if not i'll do 1 every other day for another week and build it up from there.

Really what I want to do is wii fit everyday, jogging in the evening, swimming once a week and some sort of aerobic class BUT I know there is no way on earth i'll do that so i'd get disheartened and not bother with anything so even though my goals are small I know I can stick to them!

I've got about 5 stones to lose so I have to accept that it is a long term thing and any changes are good, I just have to stick to them.

So my advice would be to be honest with yourself about what you realistically will do!

Michelle (still trying to lose baby weight and baby is 15!)

    Thanks Michelle for your response!

Stage 1 is complete - the bike has been put back together - now to use it!
