Help

nji101, 1 June, 2011 at 14:14 Posted on Planning 0 9

Ok Im new on here so firstly hey everyone.

Im getting married 2nd July and Ive got a dilema, My wedding reception starts at 4.30 with canopes and champs then a three course sit down meal at 5.30 - 7.30 we arent having any extra evening guests and if we do it will only be about 7 from 8ish. Anyway the reception goes on until 11.30pm do you think I need to do another evening buffet at about 9.15 (thats the latest the venue will do food) or do you think if people have had a three course meal then they will be ok with just a slice of cake at about 10ish? My cake feeds 140 so there will be more than enough to go round,

Please help xxx

Personally I would be more than happy with cake later on. I dont think there is any need to serve more food.

I wouldn't serve any more food. We ate at about 4 and had a buffet at 9.30... most of it was wasted...

I also wouldn't bother, and I'm big on having plenty of food! If I've been a day guest and had my three course meal at, say, 4ish, I tend to get peckish by about 10 (usually after they've cleared the buffet away!), but if you're eating early evening, you should be fine.

    Firstly, welcome to Hitched!

And I agree, canapes at 4.30pm then a sit-down 3 course meal an hour later is more than enough food, especially if your evening do finishes at 11.30pm.

I think many people are swayed into providing too much food at weddings - but think about it, if you went out for a 3 course meal in a restaurant, would you go and have another meal a couple of hours later?

No I wouldn't. We are having a 5.15 ceremony with the reception at aprox 6.30pm. You wouldn't have supper before a night out and then go and tuck into more later on an ordinary night out. So, I can't imagine people will be expecting anything other than the Wedding breakfast.

As you have plenty of cake to serve I would serve it but nothing else - they sound like they are goin to be well enough fed anyway!

I don't think people will be hungry if they have had a 3 course meal

I wouldn't serve any extra food especially if you are not having any/many evening only guests. I went to a wedding last year that started at 4pm. By the time we started eating it was about 7pm and they served and evening buffet at 9 and it was hardly touched....

Welcome to hitched by the way!
