Help Am I missing something

drifter, 25 February, 2010 at 13:39 Posted on Planning 0 6

Right ladies and gentlemen

my wedding is approximately 7 months away and I feel fairly relaxed about it all at the moment so much so in fact I am contemplating planning some nice treats and time with friends / family the week before the wedding. (Pamper session country walks, afternoon tea etc Is this madness will I be run off my feet the week before the wedding?

More importantly I feel somewheat in control of my planning and wonder have I missed something should I be doing more?

Here is what I have done and what is planned

Jobs Done

Vicar and church = BOOKED

Reception venue = booked and paid

Photographer = Booked

Caterers = Booked (final menue and numbers to be confirmed closer to wedding)

Band = Booked

Dress = Ordered

Bridesmaid = picked and accepted

(except 1 and she lives in austrlia so waiting for hewr to decide if she will be in UK before I ask as don't want to put pressure on her).

To Do

Make final transport decision and book (sorting this weekend)

Flowers (currently in process of getting quotes met one florist and hve emailed another will be having phone conversation with a third on Monday)

Bridesmaid dresses = Work in progress

Cake Need to get quotes (to be done start of next week)

Make up Waiting to hear back from a couple of places re prices need to find more reccamendations (to be done start of next week)

Hair (Hair dresser reccamendations being chased up by BM who has heard of a good one on the jungle drums)

Invites and suits being done by OH

order of service joint job will be done by Sep

Favors (still deciding what to do maybe charity donation or home made either jams and pickles or shortbread and welsh cakes)

So what am I missing?

I have quote chasing to do at the start of next week then decision making but i have 7 months to sort most things surely the last week will be relatively free time?

All input welcome especially from any old marrieds

    Can you tell it's slow at work these days?! ?

    I went through the day in my head and jotted down everything that would be needed at each stage. I'm sure I still have a few things missed off but hopefully all the important bits are done.

    Technically an old married, divorced and re-engaged (?), so hopefully this'll help!!

    Way Before wedding

    give notice

    book registrar/vicar (as well as ceremony venue as necessary)

    Reception venue

    Evenin venue (if different - I've been to a wedding in one place, meal in another and evening do at a third... don't laugh!)

    Decide colour scheme (this may be easier to do after you've chosen your dress as it may not be usual white/cream/ivory)

    Clothing and accessories

    Bride's dress and veil

    Bridal accessories (shoes, tiara, jewellery, underwear inc garter)

    Bridesmaid dresses & accessories (inc shoes, jewellery, bags - if no flowers - and underwear - obviously not your responsibilty to buy, but just make sure they have the right stuff lol)

    Flowergirl dresses & accessories (inc shoes, bolero (?), basket/bag (?))

    Pageboy suit & accessories (inc shoes, shirt/tie/waistcoat to match colour scheme)

    Male suits & accessories (suit, shirt, tie, waistcoat, hankie thing, cufflinks, socks, undies for groom (possible pre-wedding gift from you?), shoes - cleaned if not new - why dont men have the same facsination with shoes as women?!)

    Reception Venue

    Table plan

    Table numbers/names

    Place cards

    Favours

    Table Decs (centre pieces, bubbles, table confettee, disposable cameras)

    Linen (discuss with venue - table covers, napkins, chair covers and bow things- source externally if req'd)

    Finalise food choice for wedding breakfast

    Discuss wine (can you provide, do they do corkage or a drinks package per guest?)

    Menus (on tables for guests)

    First dance/last dance choice

    Entertainment (band/DJ, magician etc)

    Finalise evening buffett/bbq/hog roast etc numbers and choices (ie pick 6 things off menu for eve buffett @ £x per head)

    Ceremony

    OOS

    Flowers (pew ends/table pieces)

    Music/hymms

    Other Stuff for big day

    Invitaions (Save the date, RSVP, Day invites, evening invites - at time also order pre-mentioned OOS, menus, place cards, table plan if necessary, table numbers)

    Flowers (bride, bridesmaids, fg's, corsage for MOB and MOG, buttonholes for G, BM, FOB, FOG, Ushers, PB)

    Cake

    Wedding list?

    Guest book - with someone in charge - and a pen or two!

    Thank you gifts (bridemaids, BM, MOB, MOG, FOB, FOG, FG, PB, Ushers, and anyone else - did your Aunt make the cake/FG dresses?)

    Morning of the wedding day present for OH

    Rings

    The next Day

    *Can I just say here, first time round I had my hair up. Lovely. Except I forgot to take a comb and hair band (nevermind a bloomin- dryer and straightners!) so I had rubbish hair - remember a hairbadn and comb if nothing else lol ?

    If you're going away you'll need

    luggage, passports and spends.

    Get someone to take your dress and things with them.

    Put someone in charge of returning all the suits.

    Someone to take any gifts (your wedding list company may deliver these just before/after wedding to suit)

    Oh dear, brain freeze! lol! I'm sorry I was sucha pain in the @r$e. Teamed with I'm a freakishly organised person. I hope this helps and doesn't just make you want to cry.

    Lou x (I feel like a right control freak now!)
