Hi Girls (and Guys),
I probably shouldn't be posting this here, but I hope nobody minds too much, being as it's a good cause.
Last year on 7th October, I was supposed to be covering Cheryl and Dans wedding.
I don't really know either of them, I'd met Cheryl before, but they were a nice couple. I enjoyed their company, and sometimes you just 'know' you're going to have a good wedding... easy going, fun loving people out to have a great time on their wedding day. I'd covered Cheryls brothers wedding a few years previously and I knew we were all going to have a great time.
I don't remember the day I got the call, but I do remember excatly where I was and what I was doing.
"Dan's dead, the wedding is off..."
He died of acute pulmonary oedema and narrowing of the right coronary artery ostium... They'd both been to a wedding reception that day, they went to bed together, and he just didn't wake up...
Anyway, I'm going to give up my Sunday 21st April and ride 100 miles around Cambridge in honour of Dan, and to raise as much as is humanly possible for The British Heart Foundation, which is Cheryls chosen charity.
You don't have to dig deep, just a quid will do, if I can get 1500 people to give me £1, we might make a small difference.
It won't bring Dan back, nor will all the countless hundreds who have lost their lives to underlying heart problems, but let's hope we can stop so many dying in the future.
Pete Kelk.
