Help and support needed, please ...

artisanwedding.co.uk, 17 March, 2013 at 13:25 Posted on Planning 0 29

Hi Girls (and Guys),

I probably shouldn't be posting this here, but I hope nobody minds too much, being as it's a good cause.

Last year on 7th October, I was supposed to be covering Cheryl and Dans wedding.

I don't really know either of them, I'd met Cheryl before, but they were a nice couple. I enjoyed their company, and sometimes you just 'know' you're going to have a good wedding... easy going, fun loving people out to have a great time on their wedding day. I'd covered Cheryls brothers wedding a few years previously and I knew we were all going to have a great time.

I don't remember the day I got the call, but I do remember excatly where I was and what I was doing.

"Dan's dead, the wedding is off..."

He died of acute pulmonary oedema and narrowing of the right coronary artery ostium... They'd both been to a wedding reception that day, they went to bed together, and he just didn't wake up...

Anyway, I'm going to give up my Sunday 21st April and ride 100 miles around Cambridge in honour of Dan, and to raise as much as is humanly possible for The British Heart Foundation, which is Cheryls chosen charity.

You don't have to dig deep, just a quid will do, if I can get 1500 people to give me £1, we might make a small difference.

It won't bring Dan back, nor will all the countless hundreds who have lost their lives to underlying heart problems, but let's hope we can stop so many dying in the future.

Pete Kelk.

    Hi Pete.

Thanks for this post.... A very emotional thing to read. I'm sure you will get plenty sponsorship- ill be donating after posting this. Good luck with it and please send all our best wishes to Cheryl. Incidentally I think you do absolutely right posting in this particular forum... Sometimes in our lovely little bubbles we need to remember that there is more going on in this world than us and our big days. Brings us down to earth a bit, but all in a good cause.

    Best wishes,

    Andrea xx

Thank you so much ladies Smiley smile

I'll email Cheryl, and point her here. I know she's had a tough old time of it (As you can imagine!), and appreciates any kind wishes and thoughts.

I'll let you know how the ride goes once I've completed it, and of course recovered!

    Pete x

    Hi again :0)

I'll try to remember to keep this bumped, but may I suggest you change the post title? It's not really grabbing attention. How about just calling it help and support needed please? More members will click I think. Xx

    Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say a HHHHUUUUUGGGGEE thank you to everyone who sponsored me for the bike ride, which happened on Sunday.

I completed the 100 milkes in a little over 7 hours, and we managed to raise £678 in total Smiley smile

Thank you all ever so much.

    Pete xxxx

P.S: I would show you all a picture of me, clad in Lycra, but I wanted to thank you, not punish you!!!
