Help - anyone know of nice foods that are low in fat!!

Heather W, 19 April, 2009 at 18:13 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 9

I have found Twiglets are low, so is Soreen loaf ? and of course yummy JAFFA CAKES - which at the moment are my saviour ?

I have started taking Xenical (from the doctor) as I have tried every diet in the book and need to lose a lot of weight!! So I've bitten the bullet and have got to live on a very low fat diet for the tablets to work or I will get very bad effects!!! ? at the thought.

Look forward to hearing from anyone, thanks ? in advance

I can think of loads of things which I eat everyday e.g. pasta, rice, couscous, eggs, quorn, tofu, fruit and veg.

Things you might not have thought about include total 0% greek yogurt (lovely with some bananas) and baked beans.

It is easy to live on a low fat diet - just make sure you use fry light to cook with and read the labels ?

    Hi

Thanks - yes all your things are on my list ? didn't think about greek yoghurt so I'll add that - shame I don't like bananas ;-)

Fry light is great isn't it - I've got all three types

Have you tried them (back to small font!!) and how have they been?

How about a mini milk ice lolly, less than 0.5 grams of fat, and 30 calories per stick, for those on WW that works out at just 0.5 points! yum!

    Hi Muffins

Sorry - I haven't logged on for a few days. I have around 6.5 stone to lose!! so really need to use these tablets and really make them work for me - as well as exercise, starting slowly with walking, but I am a good swimmer so as soon as I can fit into my costume I'll go back again.

Of course I don't ? here are two websites about the drug - https://www.xenical.com/ and https://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/dietry/a7771/xenical-orlistat/ hope they give you a bit more information.

They do work - I have used them before - basically you need to stick to a low fat diet and so the tablets then tell the body to release it fat stores to burn. It does become easy to follow but does take a bit of planning - my shopping trip takes twice as long as I am looking at all the labels. If you do eat a high fat meal then yes you do suffer and live near the loo but the good side is the weight does come off if you stick to low fat - the Xenical website is great for info although it is in the US

Have skimmed milk - or if you have a Sainsburys - have there orange top milk - it is in between skimmed and semi-skimmed and is much nicer than skimmed. Use Flora light - the blue tub. My downfall is cheese so I now have to have laughing cow light, or light philly ........... the list goes on! Try and get some spray light - most supermarkets do it.

Breakfast - I have weetabix (any type, minis or bics), or shreddies, shredded wheat, cornflakes - anything low fat.

Lunch - I make a roll with meats or chicken or LC light and cucumber or make a pasta salad with chicken, v low fat mayo, cooked mushrooms (that are cold) and lots of salady stuff.

Evening - I just make my meals with all sorts - lean steak mince (I make chillis, spag bol (using the lite sauce), all sorts), veg, etc

Then for sweet things - which is my main downfall - my treat are Jaffa Cakes - only 1g each and I limit myself to 3 a day. Also can have Warburtons fruit loaf, soreen fruit loaf, - just low fat anything. But remember to look at the sugar content - if it is low in fat but very high in sugar it won't help as unburnt up sugar turns to fat in the body.

Crisps - which are another thing I can't do without - Quavers, low fat baked, twiglets, french fries

If you haven't yet started taking them, I suggest you start on a Sat morning then you are close to home for the weekend whilst you get used a couple of days to start eating low fat foods and doing your planning.

If you want to email me my email is *******@**************.*****.**.** ❤️ anytime.

Well hope this helps, good luck Heather xxx

Did you know they do flora extra light in the lilac tub which is even better than the blue I think it is half the fat and calories of the blue. My dad has just been put on these tablets although not sure why as he only needs to lose about 2 stone but his doctor probably thinks he won't do it on his own and he would be right. But then my dad is also going to be 68 this year so not sure what the point is. Hope you get on ok I was lucky and although I needed to lose almost 10 stone I managed to do it on my own but struggle to maintain the weight loss and hence am always on a diet. My body does it's own version of these tablets because if I eat fat I get the same side effects as you would naturally. it is not fun.

Hope you do well take care. xxxx
