Help - Ebay Dispute

loopyloo, 22 August, 2008 at 19:49 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0

Hi

Can anyone give me some advice about an ebay/paypal dispute? Ive outlined the basics below.

26th July - I bought an itunes code from ebay. Paid via paypal

Received code 3 days later via email - Didnt work.

Emailed seller - Another code sent 4 days later - Still didnt work.

Emailed seller again and requested refund on the 3rd August.

15th August - Emailed seller to enquire where refund was. Got an email saying they thought they had sent me a working code. Refund would take a while as they had to request funds from their bank account into their paypal account, and couldnt give refund until they had cleared.

22nd August - Still waiting, no contact from seller

Ive just been onto my ebay to try and file a dispute. It tells me to file it through paypal, but can I not file an ebay dispute also?

How do i proceed from here? Just leave it as a paypal dispute? It says it can be escalated to a paypal claim, would that be if the seller doesnt pay?

Should i email seller? Should i leave neg feedback?

Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

If you pay by paypal then you have to claim through them. You would claim through ebay if you paid by other means.

If you haven't already, start the paypal claim. You will have the chance to communicate with the seller to try and reach a resolution. It also might give him a nudge into refunding you as his account would become limited. If you don't want to communicate with the seller or feel that you aren't getting anywhere then you can escalate it and paypal will then look into it. You must escalate within 20 days or your claim will be closed.

I would start the claim, then give it a day or two for the seller to respond to the claim and then escalate it if you aren't satisfied.

Good luck in getting your refund.

BTW, I wouldn't bother emailing him again as it sounds like he has already given you the runaround.
