Help for choosing music for a civil ceremony

LauraJaneRush, 23 August, 2010 at 22:23 Posted on Planning 0 3

Evening everyone,

I know this has been done before but I am really struggling to find music for our civil ceremony.

I need: 2 songs for prior to the ceremony, 1 song to walk down to, 2 for signing the register and 1 to leave to.

My initial ideas are:

BeforeSmiley atonishedongbird- Eva Cassidy

Walk in to: Over the rainbow-glee version

Register: When you say nothing at all-Ronan Keating.

Thoughts and ideas please!! Is it sad having glee to walk into? Is it appropriate?

Please share your music to help me as Im struggling, stressed and confused!!!

Thanks x

We had a piper and drummer beforehand.

To walk in I had eh...crap can't remember! Oops, it was instrumental and lovely though. To sign the register you'll need at least 2 songs and we had Book of Love and Romeo and Juliet 'Kissing Me'. We were piped back out and I know this is sad but there is a bagpipe tune called 'Rowan Tree' and my first dog was called Rowan so I picked that one....nothing like it being a bit random is there but it was also a lovely tune as I didn't want the traditional ones.

To walk in we are having Iris- Goo goo dolls

2 for signing are The Proclaimers- Let's Get Married and Stevie Wonder- Signed Sealed Delivered

And exit is The Ramones- Baby I love You

We're still not 100% sure the registrar will allow Iris as it mentions heaven and the registra said the don't allow any religius content but I'm hoping they won't notice til it's too late ?

I think these songs should always be personal. Like Purrfect Gems, we had a piper who piped us in and out of the marriage venue who is a personal friend and this was really special for us. For me, traditional is better for music to walk in or out of the marriage venue to. But as I say, that's personal opinion. You should sit down with your fiance and speak about what types of songs you like and have meaning for you. That's a good head start.

Hope you find the perfect one!
