Help - Gone off my STD Cards! Need opinions Please - with flashes

Chickster, 16 June, 2012 at 16:17 Posted on Planning 0 14

I'm making our own wedding stationery and OH and I have opted for very traditional looking invitations (which I love). We thought it would be fun to do a completely different STD card so that we could indulge in the current vintage trend which we also like a lot. I designed a save the date card (below) which at first we both really liked, but a friend of mine made a joke that it looked like a wanted poster!!!! ? I found this quite funny when she said it, but in the process of finding it funny, I have now completely gone off them!

I got up this morning and designed another one which matches the style of our invitations and I am very pleased with. I showed OH and he doesn't like them because they look a lot like the invitations! He wants to use the vintage ones - what do you guys think??

The vintage STD (sorry it's a bit blurred but you get the idea):

Traditional style STD that now matches our invitations:

Text on inside of card:

Do the vintage ones look too much like a wanted poster???!! Should we use the ones that match the invitations? Are any of you guys matching yours to your invites? Would appreciate opinions and flashes please!!

Thanks C

No the vintage one looks really good - not at all like a wanted poster!! The other option is nice but much less interesting to be honest!

I really love the vintage option. I think they are fun and nothing like a wanted poster

Both nice but I think it'd be good to have something less formal for STD cards so go with your first option. It's quite a long way off so it won't matter that it doesn't match your invites.

Ooh didn't know your first name was Chicky ?

I too love the original ones! I don't think there's anything wrong with them, they tell guests exactly what they need to know, without being too serious and formal. IMO STDs should be more informal and basic... It's the invites that should be the more thought-out part IMO.

Our STD aren't even in our wedding colours, we literally just did them quick so that important guests didn't book holidays etc.

Love the vintage ones, if you wanted to make it less "western" looking, I would just play around with a few different fonts.

I like the orginal vintage ones too (they look nothing like a wanted poster!) our STD didnt match the invites at all, we hadnt even decided a final colour scheme when we sent them out! x

I think the first ones look lovely. Not like Wanted posters at all. More like vintage fete.

I absolutely LOVE the vintage one, it's ace! Ours probably won't match our invites either, but I really don't think that matters ?

I prefer the first one! But in saying that,I would take the STD as a clue to the wedding theme....from the first I would think 'vintage, fun, informal' the second one says 'traditional, formal and elegant' so it depends on the message you are looking to send out! X

I don't like the second one at all. I think its a bit dull. Stick with the first.

Awww thank you so much everyone! I feel a lot more reassured about the vintage ones now and I think I'll stick with them.
