Help! Honeymoon suggestions....

lumc86, 23 October, 2012 at 10:35 Posted on Planning 0 6

We are getting married 28th March 2013 (the Thursday before Easter weekend).

Originally we didnt think we were going to be able to afford a honeymoon, so havent put any thought in to it at all. However, after some financial help towards the wedding from our parents, its looking like we are going to have hopefully £1000 spare to spend on a honeymoon.

Only problem is, it is the Easter holidays, so A) holidays are a lot more expensive, and B) there are going to be kids everywhere!

We dont have a specific location in mind, just somewhere we can relax (and there not be noisy kids everywhere) and enjoy each others company, and maybe have a teeny bit of a luxury (which may be difficult on our tiny budget).

We do have the next 2 weeks after the wedding off, so we're thinking of staying in the UK for a week and then going way, in the hope of things being a bit cheaper as its the end of the holidays.

ALL suggestions welcome :o)

    Hey,

What about last minute holidays? It's a good option if you don't mind where you go. And actually it's even cheaper to go somewhere that isn't really fashionable (meaning:less busy).

That's great news that you have some spare money for you to celebrate on a honeymoon! Yay!

Could you wait until after the Easter hols to benefit from lower prices?

I've noticed in the last two years that booking last min has not meant lower prices - maybe it's the financial climate.

What about a luxury minimoon in the UK? - a city break, or something romantic in the country.

You can easily get somewhere for £1000 for the both of you, we are going to Turkey next year with 2 kids (so in the school holidays) for 9 days for around that mark and I think my sister went to the maldives for 2 weeks for about £1500 that was with 2 nights in Dubai thrown in. Just go in to the travel agents tell them your budget and see what they can offer you. Or even look into hiring a villa, that way you get your alone time etc.

According to my mother who is pretty well traveled and likes nice hotels, this is the most romantic place on the world.

    Cape Verde Islands?

Amazing beaches, kind of a cheaper version of Caribbean or Indian Ocean islands
