Help - I need an adultier adult!

WickyWack, 1 June, 2015 at 15:10 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 18

I'm off on holiday in 5 weeks and need help packing my suitcase!

Were going to corfu for 7 nights, will be pretty hot most of the time so need outfits to suit.

We've been twice before, and I always fail at packing and end up with nothing suitable to wear!

I'm at least 2 stone heavier so will probably be feeling a bit more self conscious.

Here's my list so far:

White linen trousers

2 x floaty midi dresses

1 x maxi dress (maybe, gives me mild maid looking hips!)

White floaty gypsy top

1/2 swimming costumes/bikini

Pretty pink peplum top

White cardi

Pale blue kimono cardi

What else? Of note - not a fan of the bingo wings/tummy/chubby knees so avoiding exposing these bits wouldn't go a miss!

Ha! I love this phrase, my friend and I were saying this a lot at the weekend! May have technically been an adult for 10yrs, but still require an adultier adult!

Right, you need at least one cover up for round the pool e.g. kaftan, sarong etc

Possibly something else to wear with the linen trousers. Will you be wearing the peplum and the gypsy top with them? White floaty plus white I'm guessing fairly loose may not work, hard to tell though.

Something to wear if you go on a trip or go walking somewhere, if this means covered knees I'd be going for crops/long shorts, the chub rub is too much for me in a dress!

    Shoes!!! Hehe

I always take loads, even when only going for a week. I usually pack skirts/shorts for during the day, vest tops for day, along with a million bikinis, even when I'm fat, as I like to tan and there's always fatter people than me there and I'll never see them again!

For the evening, usually a couple of dresses, pair of skinny jeans and a couple of nice tops. Cardigan/light jacket if it's chilly at night.

Flip flops for day, some form of shoe for the evening.

I always take a couple of large, floaty scarf type things. Very versatile as a cover up when it gets chilly wrapped around the shoulders, or can use them as a sarong.

Wicky - we've seen pictures of you... You really don't have to worry about feeling self conscious! you're a gorgeous lady.

I'd take a sarong for around the pool. What about a skirt or shorts?

Shoes? flip flops, trainers in case you go walking somewhere, heels for the evening...

    Don't forget your sunglasses.

Sun hat! I love my big floppy hat around the pool and for sight seeing.

Also, how about your accessories - beach bag, evening bag, jewellery, shoes (people might have already said these but on phone so can't check).

Definitely a couple of pairs of jeans and some pretty tops for the evenings - it can get a bit cooler once the sun goes down, even in corfu ?

Sun cream! Just because I'm a mum and would feel remiss if I didn't remind you ?

A nightie/pjs just in case there's a fire in the night (sorry, I'm turning into my nan!)

Underwear!!! I met this woman at the weekend who told me she forgot (?) to pack underwear for her honeymoon. They were going on safari so you do want your undies. Apparently she had to get their driver to take them to a local shop... leeeeetle bit embarrassing...

where abouts in Corfu are you going? I'm going in 2 weeks! I usually take undies vests shorts jeans and a few night time tops oh and a big towel and baby nappy bags for loo roll - remember you can't flush loo roll in Corfu.

    Awkward!

What l like to do is to plan some outfits to see what to take with me including underwear and jewellery. That way you don't take that lovely top with you which you then realise doesn't actually match anything you have with you.

Haha underwear! I didn't have this on my list!!

I've seen some nice navy capri length chino type things which will look nice with flat sandals and a white t-shirt

    I'm so rubbish at this!

I try to take things that are versatile and can be worn twice - i.e. a summer dress than can be worn with jewellery and heels out for dinner, then a couple of days later chuck it back on with some flip flops for a day out. A pair of trousers and two different tops to go with them, that kind of stuff.

I try and do the same as SW, versatile shoes too.

Wickywack, can you dress yourself on a day to day basis?! I'm sure you can't be that hopeless!

I don't know why buy holiday outfits seems so much more difficult to plan!
