HELP! I need to sleep

cheska, 5 May, 2009 at 20:16 Posted on Planning 0 4

I am really struggling to sleep at the moment. I have always been a light sleeper and never make it through the night without waking up once or twice. I don't need a lot of sleep but this past week I am really struggling. What with wedding stuff and with being oncall for the last week (which has meant phonecalls at 3 in the morning) I am like a zombie.

Was so on edge today at work I was crying in the toilets after someone who works for one of our main customers phoned and had a major go at me. Normally I would have asked him to call back when he could speak to me like a normal person but instead I let him go on and on then burst into tears! Which is so not like me at all!

Does anyone have any good getting to sleep tips or cutting remarks I can use when I need to speak to that guy again?

Take Kalms tablets an hour before bed - they're natural, so no worries there. And drink "sleepy time" tea, by Celestial Seasonings.

They both really help with not being able to sleep, due to the stress of exams.

I was going to suggest a trip into Holland and Barratt for some herbal remedies. I never ever sleep all through the night and always wake up at least 4 times and actually get up and walk around the house or go to the loo etc so I can sympathise with how frustrating it is.

As for cutting remarks I would have probably told him to bugger off and then have been sacked so I'm not going to suggest doing that!

This time of year I always have trouble sleeping (which is a PITA) and I find this routine works for me brilliantly when I need a bit of help.

I don't drink any tea or coffee (or boringly) alcohol after 8pm (usually go to bed around 11) and have a warm bath with a lavender based bath product. Then as old farty as it sounds I always have a cup of warm milk with a spoonful of honey in whilst sat in bed. I read for an hour and then put a few drops of lavender oil onto a tissue and pop under my pillow. I find lavender oil works better than a lavender pillow.

Origins have some lovely sleep inducing smellies but most of them are lavender based anyway so I just get the oil now.

Hope some of that might help.

I can sympathise as also have the same problem...plus my H2B snores terribly! Heavens knows what it'll be like when I'm as close to the wedding as you are. Sounds like some good advice on here though...I'll be getting myself down to Holland and Barret I think. Hope you find a remedy that works for you.
