Help - i think iv reached plateau!

mrsmagoo, 17 March, 2009 at 11:14 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 11

Things have been going well since i started ww and so far iv lost 12.5lbs in 6 weeks. I stood on my scales this morning at home to see what the ww scales were likely to say and they havent budged, not by a fraction of a lb (sob). I dont get it really. Iv started back at the gym, been twice this week, took the kids to the park 20 min walk each way twice, been gardening etc and i was hoping id see a difference.

Iv been really good and eaten within my points allowance so i dont know why i havent lost. My scales have been accurate every other week so its unlikely they are wrong. Weigh in is tomorrow morning and im the kind of person that if i dont lose il fall off the wagon and stop.

I have 8 weeks to lose 11 lbs which was looking likely but not so much now. I have 6lbs to go to get to goal.

Help!

If you are eating the same now as when you started WW, your weight loss will inevitably stop and then reverse at some point. As you lose weight, your calorie requirements drop and therefore you have to eat less.

    Hi SophieM

Im eating less than when i started, dropped my points as ww recommend when you get into next st bracket. I have also reintroduced exercise which i havent been doing really as i knew things were going to start getting harder.

I know it gets more difficult the less you have to lose but to not lose even 0.5lb is really demotivating.

Ok firstly don't be so hard on your self. Its quite common to have a week when you don't loose then get gouing the next week. That said, you don't know for certain you've sts. In a day your weight can vary by 2lb or more so its still possible when you have your ww wi you'll be different to this morning.

If you have sts or even gained are you due your period? I always seem to retain water before and during so will often sts but have a bigger loss than normal next week.

Did I read you have 6lb to goal but want to loose another 11lb? Ether way you're very close to target and as you say that makes things harder. Its quite possible your body is getting used to your new exercise routine and you'll show a bigger loss next week.

I've been messing about with the same couple of lb for weeks, on and off but touch wood i seem to have kick started again. Hopefully the same will happen for you too if you have sts this week.

TMI but I bet you'll be 2lb lighter when you've done a poo.

Make sure youre' drinking plenty of water, it helps with the poo and the weight loss too.

Dear God...when I moved over here, I was so looking forward to being able to read posts without anyone discussing poo habits!!!

Whilst we're on the subject, and the pooing oracles are offering sage advice, can I just ask...the 2-3 days before WI each week, I seem to be pretty constipated and I crap myself (sadly not literally) when I go to WI knowing that I might just as well be holding 3 days worth of food in a rucksack. Why???

Yay! 1/2 lb is still fab...1/2 off!!!

I always seem to weigh a couple of lbs less after I go on Friday morning...but between Tues and Thurs nothing happens and WI on Thurs night is so stressful!

On weeks where I've stayed the same, I've always lost more the following week. It is hard to stay on track when the scales show nothing, but stick at it and the following week things look much better.

I have about the same as you to lose now and have sts this week too. It is a struggle to keep at it especially when you are so close to goal, but I am determined to get those last few pounds shifted before Easter (mostly so I feel I can bake and eat chocolate! No doubt be back at ww a few lbs heavier the following week!)

Don't know how many points you are on but you could always consider doing the fast start (18pts over 3 meals only) for a week or 2 and see if that helps move things along?

Thanks JenB my leader said pretty much the same.

Im only on 19 points at the moment, i sometimes use more as im breastfeeding, about twice a day at the moment.

Its so hard, im trying to increase my exercise this week but i had knee surgery in jan so finding it a bit difficult. Iv also upped my water intake in the hope that that helps. Im so close but also so far. Trouble is the closer i get to goal the more i want to lose. When i started i just wanted to get to 10.5st, now that is reachable i want to try to get in the 9st bracket. Doubt i will, but its like your never happy.
