HELP!! I'm in a panic.....

Jay-Low, 22 April, 2010 at 09:48 Posted on Planning 0 9

.... which is nothing unusual for me as I've always been a worrier. So I'm never very good at working out if my panics are irrational or justified ? !!!!

Basically, as some of you might know/remember from other posts I got engaged in Feb this year and due to finiancial reasons the wedding was going to be Spring 2012. Now, very fortunately for us, we have been able to bring the wedding forward as the financial situation has changed but this means I've got nothing done!!!

Our problem is we haven't found a venue. Out of the places we've visited we only found one we like but would be having the wedding breakfast+reception in a marquee which doesn't go up on the venue until June and don't want to book until we've seen it but seeing as our date is prob June 2011 that doesn't leave much time after that. Or does it??!!

Looking at another venue today and then on saturday but I know both of them get booked really far in advance.

I think I got further panicked when I read a post on here which showed that many 2011 brides have venue, dj, dress, flowers, tog all organised.

Don't know what I expect you to say really just needed to be told to chill our or get a move on I suppose!! ?

Does the venue not have an album of photos they can show so you see how you feel? But even so i think 12 months is plenty of time to plan! I'm sure it will be great xx

Don't stress! Loads of people can organise a wedding in a much shorter time period than a year. Geordie Barbie on here has only had 8 months, my cousin had 3, my best friend only had 5. All very doable. You'd be especially lucky having it at a venue where they've had weddings before because they will be able to guide you on so many things that tend to take up time. The key is to write lists and keep track of every decision you make. Really - don't worry - you'll be more than fine.

Oh yes and congrats on being able to bring it forward. That's great news!

A year is loads of time. I've had a year and a week to plan and I've got most of it done. Like you I'm a worrier so didnt hang about with things. I've only got invites left really to do. I've still 4 and a half months left. x

You will have lots of time, don't panic!! Most people who have a year or more have some time where they have nothing that can really be done/orgainsed, so if you miss out on that, it won't be the end of the world ? We're here to help at least!!

I didn't start organising until late September for my wedding in July, so I think a year is fine. How flexible are you with dates? If you're quite flexible I'd wait until the marquee goes up.

I agree with the others, you'll have plenty of time for 2011. Don't stress, others have planned in 8 months!

I take it you felt Cooling wasn't for you in the end?

Thanks guys. I've had a cup of tea and a fun size mars bar (stuff the diet!) while reading through your replies and I am officially chilled out now!!!!

I knew deep down that I have enough time but I'm one of those annoyingly organised people who always writes lists and has things done about a hundred years before they need to be done so when something is out of my control I feel out of control lol!!

Once I've booked the venue everything else will just flow afterwards I think.

If we go with the venue with the marquee we def won't book it before I've seen it up. There are pics of it on the venue's website but I'm sure as you've all experienced sometimes the pics either don't do it justice or it makes it look better than it actually is, so unless we love one of the venues we see this week I'll just have to be patient!

Stazzle - we still haven't seen Cooling!! Our appointment is this Saturday (they are so popular there was even a waiting list to go and view the place!!!). I'm still convinced I will love the place but trying not to get my hopes up because when I phoned them (about 2 weeks ago now I think) they only had about 10 weekdays left between May and September 2011.

Thanks again girls, knew I could rely on you lot!! ?
