HELP: invitations

kazsimp, 22 January, 2014 at 12:36 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hello ladies, I am new to this to forgive me if I ramble...

I am getting married in April so there is a massive rush as you can imagine to get everything sorted. However I am really struggling with the wording for my wedding invitations. A little background... I have been with my fiance now for 12 years and we've been engaged for 8 years so this is a long time coming. We are well settled in a home and have 3 lovely children so have done things a little backwards to the norm (although I guess there are a lot more people doing it this way nowadays). For me, our wedding is like the final step in completing our family and I want to portray this on the wording of the invites. I want to say something like please join us to help celebrate the "binding" / "final bond" / "cementing of our family" however these all round rubbish and I can't think of or find another way of saying it that doesn't sound crap!

If there are any creative type people who are good with words I would really appreciate any ideas!

Thanks so much in advance xx

    It might be a bit too cheesy and I love some of the replies already given, but as an alternative - I've seen some invitations written as though the children are inviting the guests;

    "[Childrens' names] would like to invite you to the marriage of [name] and [name] as we all celebrate our family connection together"

    Or... something... probably a bit better than that. The wording would also be different depending on the type of ceremony etc, but it would bring to the fore the point of everyone being involved, not just the two of you, and I know from other friends how important it can be to have the children involved in this part of their lives Smiley smile
