Help. Losing patience and will to live.

mrsgreatbatch2b, 24 March, 2012 at 13:40 Posted on Planning 0 11

I'm so stuck right now.

I wanted a vintage/country garden theme wedding. My bridesmaid dress is vintage green, my bouquet has dusty pink and cream roses in it with minimal green. My dress is a the typical princess dress with my hair fully up and natural looking make-up.

I've got square mirrors for my centrepieces but as for what else to put on it i'm not sure. I know I wanted dusty pink petals scattered on my table.

Please help, don't know what to do, my wedding is in July.

I'm not really a vintage/ country garden kind of person but what about vintage looking teacups or vases containing a selection of flowers to compliment your theme?

    Or decorative plant pots ?

Sorry If it doesn't help but as I say its not really something I know much about.

    Regards

How about jars and bottles like this...

I am doing this but mainly with jam jars and other type of jars. Its easy to do and really cheap! All you need to do is collect jars and wrap lace or twine around and you could even add satin ribbon to match your colour scheme! Hope this helps!!

Any ideas in here for you?

What about old books piled up with teacups on top and pansies planted in them - similar to what I am thinking but think I will go for vintage boxes.

I'm having a vintage feel to my wedding & because we're on a tight budget (& I overspent on my dress) floral centrepieces are out. We're collecting Kilner jars & filling them with different old fashioned sweets. Then every place setting will have a little personalized sweetie bag so they can help themselves. This means we've done centrepieces & favours in one go!! : )

    We're having a very similar theme to you - country garden/dusky pink/sage green/ivory.

For centrepieces, we're having pink/green/white flowers in jars which I have decorated similar to mattsgirl's suggestion, with cath kidston style floral fabrics, lace and ribbons. Also having floral table runners and mirror plates. My inspiration is the picture below from a wedding at our venue last year:

I saw some beautiful antique style white candelabras with flowers like these wound round them -

Which I thought was beautiful. The flower garland is from notonthehighstreet.com and this is a (bad) picture of what the whole thing looked like...

(Sorry, not sure why it's sideways!)

Teacups and/or teapots with flower heads in - Sprigs of herbs or flowers tied with ribbon - Tin watering cans with flowers in - Jam jars with flowers in - herb or seed packet favours - bird cages stuffed with flowers - Cardboard butterfly shaped name cards or decorations - Rattan/twine? shaped hearts to hang from the backs of chairs - Wooden rustic (like East of India range) arrow signs pointing to 'wedding' or 'garden' - Some bunting strug around in your colour scheme - Mini vases with tea lights in - Various cake stands of all shapes and sizes in an arrangement.

There are lots of possibilities for this theme and a lot you could DIY if you wanted to. I use google images the most, just type in what your looking for and look at other people's weddings for inspiration ?

I have bought fabric from Abakahns and made my own table runners which was actually more work and cost than I hoped (though not hard, I'm just lazy and tight!). I'm sure it would be possible to hire though, found this after I'd already made half: https://www.tamarynstreasures.co.uk/hire-china-linen.php

No idea where the actual fabric in the photo is from, but agree it is gorgeous
