HELP! Major wobble!

yummymummy05, 13 April, 2010 at 20:48 Posted on Planning 0 22

Evening All,

I've doing a lot of thinking lately and i'm having major wobbles about my dress. I love the dress i have, but it doesnt feel like 'the one'

this is the dress i have now.

However, i've been thinking and think its too plain. I have a picture in my head of what i want and for the life of me, i cannot find a picture of it!!

something like this, but less ruffles.

or similar to this,

i love this dress. so much so, that i'm thinking of changing the colour of my dress from ivory.

Please help! I'm in turmoil!

I LOVE your dress! I remember it from when you posted the pic before. I know it's a personal thing, but when I tried dresses, I didn't like 'ruffles' on me, I wanted something, for want of a better word, smooth and my dress is similar(ish) shaped to yours.

Please banish those wobbles, I wouldn't personally swap your dress for the ones you posted (sincerely hope I don't offend anyone with that!)

I'm giving you a virtual slap. Everyone gets wobbles. Your original dress is gorgeous. Very classy. Obviously it's your decision at the end of the day but I'm a great believer of going with your first instinct. x

    The other two are horrible.

    Your dress is not horrible.

    Tis really that simple.

Hi, the exact same thing happened to me altho luckily my first choice was a sample and only cost £350 (I sold it for the same amt so was lucky). How much did your first choice cost and is there any chance of getting any money back?

It's so important to love yr dress AND love yourself wearing it (more important!) so I would suggest trying on a few more and seeing if any of them give you that 'this is it' feeling. I was convinced I'd never have that and would have to settle until by pure chance I stumbled upon a shop and my dress and just couldn't stop smiling! No other dress had that effect! In fact, the others made me feel a bit miserable tbh cos just felt fat and frumpy (and I'm only a 12). This one seemed to flatter my figure and I just loved it.

If you still can't help looking at other dresses I would say you haven't found the right one as I was the same, but since finding 'the dress' I haven't even been interested in looking on designer sites or in mags anymore. (Still love seeing people's choices on here tho!)

Good luck with whatever you decide xxx

I like your original dress. Like one of the other posters - I prefer less ruffles and flounce. Of course everyone has their taste.

To be honest I never had (and still don't have) 'the one' feeling. I think we get conditioned to think that we will fall in love with everything about our weddings, and every decision will be an 'ah ha' moment. At the end of the day, if you like it and feel good in it - that's good enough. don't feel pressured because you don't faint everytime you look at it. it's just an item of clothing really, that you're gonna wear for one day. Yes it's important, but don't panic.

Hope you feel better about it soon.

Wow that was a bargain! Maybe you should get yr hair done and put some make-up on and try it on again whilst you're looking gorgeous? Then see how you feel about it xx

Your original dress is beautiful, very elegant! I prefer it to the ruffled ones, but that's just my personal preference. You need to feel right and happy on the day in your dress. If you are really not sure then maybe look for another dress.

I don't think I ever really got that "the one" feeling with my dress.

    Sorry, probably havent helped much!

I love your first dress it's gorgeous, the second one is very similar to mine and so I love that too. Not so keen on the 3rd but I think that is the colour that is throwing me off.

I have dress wobbles all the time but then put it on and all is right with the world again!

Go with what makes you happy... x

Having nothing to add as I'm going through the same wobble, I think my dress is to plain. I ended up getting my dress free so if I do decide to sell I will have made a profit but I just don't know what to do.

But anyway good luck and I hope something helps you to make your decision

Your original dress is gorgeous, the other two look like toilet roll covers.

If you want a bit of colour on your dress, why not get the corsage (?) on the hip made in another colour!

Maybe you could have an under skirt that makes it poff out more? may replace the need for ruffles?

I think the dress is about how you feel when you wear it... if you wear it and feel gorgeous then go for it. Perhaps go to a wedding shop and try a few ruffly dresses to see if you enjoy the ruffles as much as you imagine you will?

    Good luck!

Love the first dress. What a bargain! I'm personally not that keen on ruffles so I'd stick with the first one

The first one definitely gets my vote! Much more elegant. I think you just need to try it on again to remind yourself of how fabulous you looked in it.

As an aside, teehee and tahdah, you both make me chuckle a lot!
