Help! Makeup assistance please

MrsB2be_xo, 23 March, 2014 at 20:18 Posted on Planning 0 6

Ok, I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks and I am still having trouble with my makeup!

I had a trial last week and didn't like it, so going back to doing it myself!

I need a good covering, photogenic foundation, that isn't ghostly in flashes.

Please please help as I'm going to go shopping tomorrow Smiley smile

thanks! X

Don't know what trial you had, but I'm not a make up wearer and love bits by Bobbi Brown as they are so natural.

Would recommend them if that helps!

My MUA is using mainly Mac products on me, for foundation etc. although the foundation is a trade only product so I'm going to struggle to get hold of it (I'd like to have it as liked the coverage)

Ah sorry to hear you've not enjoyed your trials. Did you tell your MUA that you weren't happy? Perhaps they could have tweaked what they did?

I can't help with any product recommendations. I'll be doing my own make up (marrying abroad) so have been looking at some tutorials to get ideas.

I'm sure the professionals will be along with better advice but I *think* that you need to avoid shimmery products, aim for a Matte finish. I think products with SPF are to be avoided too.

It's hard to recommend a foundation. I think ones with more of a yellow undertone as opposed to roses and translucent can help avoid the ghostly look. I love the HD powder by Urban Decay for a flawless look. I also recommend No7 pressed powder to avoid the cakey look. Avoid 'heavy' foundations. Personally my fave is Boujoir Paris liquid foundation (the healthy mix one - it's great for pale skin if you have it)! When applying it, do so in natural light, as indoor lighting can alter the shade of the foundation or your skin, so you risk getting tangoed! Do you apply it over a thin layer of moisturizer? That does wonders for coverage and blending, and a little goes a lot further! Hope this helps Smiley smile And hope you find what you are looking for Smiley smile

P.S. My ultimate fave for lasting make-up... All Nighter Make-up setting spray by Urban Decay. Pricey but flipping worth it!!!

Laura Mercier Silk Creme is a gorgeous foundation and doesn't contain SPF so has not flashback in photos. Mac face and body is also another good option for foundation.

Have you got a department store near you? I'd really recommend getting someone at a makeup counter to do yours and talk you through the products. I had mine done at the Clinique counter in John Lewis, but I wandered around the others and had a look at their stuff too. My friend wanted me to try Mac and I was all for it but whilst browsing I decided that I wasn't keen on the smell of the foundation - shows it's good to test things.

Good luck with it and try not to stress. Plenty of days to still practice your look.

I think you'd have to tell us a little bit about your skin (colour, tone, it is dry, your eye and hair colour ) to be able to recommend something.

I love Rimmel Wake me up foundation for day to day but my MUA used Yves Saint Laurent Touche eclat for my trial and I really like it.

Smashbox does a photofinish one that is supposed to look good in pictures.

Let us know what you decided on?

    xx
