Help me please

Fatgirl, 3 April, 2008 at 11:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

I need a kick up the arse / advice & help - I have about 10 weeks to my wedding so would love to have a glowing complection (sp) and a nice figure. My problem I love my food too much! I am currently a size 10-12 which is remarkable as I never watch what I eat.

What I need is some guidance as to what exactly is a balanced diet I don't want a gimmicky diet, but something I can stick to long term.

I also need to get back into the exercise - due to problems at home everything went down the pan. So please can I get some motivation.

I'm not unhappy with myself, but would like to improve on what I've got.

? to you for starters as must be a stressful time. Size 10-12 is NOT big at all. Anyway, I eat everyday pretty much, bowl of cereal for breakfast, salad or sandwich for lunch, dinner in the evening is usually rice, pasta or potatoes with fish or meat and veggies. Tons of water and NO snacks ever, ever, ever. I would also limit alcohol if you can as has loads of calories. This has always worked for me and I have been the same size for years. I do very little exercise (am lucky that I have a fast metabolism) but I hate the gym so instead I have a dance mat at home on my X Box - works a treat and is so much less boring! Good luck and happy wedding day. ?

Having a clear goal can help with motivation. Even walking up and down the stairs a few extra times a day can help with excercise (says the lard arse ?)

Oh and for the glowing skin part I suggest Cliniques 3 Steps. I have had such dodgy skin for years and years and I started using it about 2 months ago twice a day and now my skin is sooooo much better. Whole heartedly recommend it.

The easiest way is to stick to three meals a day with no snacks in between. Drink 2 litres of water a day and it is not too late to start a skin care routine.

My skincare routine is quite simple - I don't have time for anything too fussy. I bought a pack of garnier wet wipes, day cream and night cream and I use them twice a day. My skin has brightened up within 3 days and is soooo soft. They are 3 for 2 at the mo in Boots too.

With regards to the meals, one thing I try to keep in mind is splitting your plate into 1/3 protein, 1/3 carb and 1/3 veg/salad. That way your diet is balanced. Try to reduce your sugar intake and cut out fat as much as possible.

    Good luck
    xx

I totally disagree with not snacking - it slows down your metabolism. Just make sure that you eat healthy snacks.

Size 10-12 is fine - perhaps it's just exercise you need to tone up?

Why is your username Fatgirl? have you lost a lot of weight?

    Thank you all for your imput. I am Fatgirl because this is the nicknames myself and OH use. I know 10-12 isn't fat, and didn't want to imply it was (sorry). I also get called Fatgirl for the amount I eat, eg yesterday quite a typical day I ate;

    Brekafast - Bacon Baguette
    Berry Muffin
    Lunch - Fajita Sandwich
    2 x Pieces carrot cake
    1/2 bag of pineapple chunks
Dinner - 2 x Chicken Kievs, chips and veg
    Bowl of Semolina
    Mars Bar
    2 x packet of Crisps.

    [:I]

I'm not proud of this, and this is why I need help to control my intake.

If that's the case and you're a size 10 then wow!!

try and have a more varied diet, less processed foods and sugars, and replace with wholegrains, brown rice and brown breat etc and have healthy snacks such as nuts, rice cakes etc.

I am fortunate I know to be able to eat like that and stay slim. However I am looking at my long term health. This is why I want to improve my eating habits.

I can probably help you with working out a better diet, as I am just about to finish a qualification in nutritional advice. I think ive offered this to you before.
However, do you eat this much because you are always hungry? have you checked with your GP that there are no metabolic issues?

Thank you Anna - I think you have offered before but I think I've always been to shy to really admit to others how much I actually eat.

I do eat when I am hungry - rather than through boredom etc.
No I have never been to the drs about it, I feel that it's not really a major problem compared to others.

Maybe now is the right time to start looking at things properly.

    Thank you.

If you can eat that and stay a 12/10 wowzers!
You certainly don't need to diet, but could do with eating a little healthier. Things like swapping the chips for a jacket?Swap the snacky things for fruit etc?
I also have to ask why FatGirl??

I was a 12 before my wedding and did 20 minutes three nigths a week on an excersise bike, aswell as some sit ups. I changed my diet and my skin got better as did the 'tone' of my body. I dropped to a 10 (which not I think was to skinny for me at 5ft 7ish)but also felt much healthier.
It all went out the window after the wedding and I went to a large 12, but am back down again now to a 10/12. However, now I have to watch what I eat, if I go back to stodgy stuff I can feel it.

    WSS.

For me it's portion control, I try and eat what I like but less of it.
