Help me with hymns please!

My OH dismissed just about every hymn going for ridiculous reasons and didn't make any suggestions of what he would like. Helpful! I really want Jerusalem which I guess is quite funereal and perhaps not appropriate for a wedding. I think the other one we will go for will be Oh Jesus I Have Promised.

Some of the suggestions in my church booklet are:
All things bright and beautiful (which I vetoed because all his mates will snigger at 'purple headed mountain' ?)
Give me oil in my lamp (or as I know it, Give me joy in my heart)
Morning has broken
Lord of all hopefulness

We had - All things bright and beautiful, Amazing grace, Lord of the dance.

We chose hymns that most people will know.

i found colours of day lastnight which was a childhood favourite but oh has just dismissed it. im not going to push that one though because along with bind us together will make for quite a childish hymn selection!

From memory, as I don't have my spreadsheet to hand, I think we are having 'One more step along the world' and 'bind us together'. If we are having 3 (can't remember!), then I thinks it's 'give me joy in my heart'.

Although, now Miss Scatterbrain has reminded me of 'colours of day' which I love, that's added anohter choice!!

I don't think there's anything wrong with having two 'children's' hymns. I like it because more people will know them , and they are usually more uplifting than some of the traditional ones.
