Hey

I am completely lost, we have decided to opt for getting married abroad. Preferably in the carribean somewhere, ive heard over the years that its alot cheaper and after several months of researching for venues etc in and slightly out of London, seeing the prices with shock im happy to go ahead with this. Ive googled weddings abroad, too many sites are coming up and im clueless to know whos reliable and does good packages.

Has anyone got any suggestions

To start getting some ideas it might be worth popping into a few travel agents and picking up their wedding brochures. It'll give you an idea of the options available even if you don't book through a travel agent :-)

We have planned our wedding separate from the holiday as lapland holidays are usually meet santa and his elves which I will not be doing! Haha. We chose a holiday company we have used before and have booked with a wedding planner. This is probably the more expensive way of doing it but the holiday providers that do weddings couldn't give us what we wanted. Kuoni have some fantastic resorts all over the Caribbean but they may be quite pricey x

It depends what's important to you. If you want to keep costs down you can opt for a mainstream operator like Virgin Holidays or Thomas Cook. Both do weddings abroad. They will book something out of the brochure for you and it won't be very individual. If you want a bespoke wedding and honeymoon arrangement then it's likely to cost more but you will have more say in it and can tailor things to suit you.

I am a travel agent (although not for a mainstream, high street agency) and there are some very good tailor made agents around. Destinology and Haues and Jarvis are very good. Audley Travel are also excellent but don't really do weddings but that's not to say they couldn't arrange one.

    Hi Marli,

I work for Virgin Holidays and we can tailor make your wedding / honeymoon to your needs.

Have you got a perticular Island that you want to get married in? and would you be going on to do a honeymoon at another location?

I would maybe have a look at the islands in the Caribbean first to see where you want to get married as the islands are different in many ways.

Would Children be attending the Wedding? Do you like getting out and about on holiday or woud you be happy to stay in the resort?

Virgin Atlantic fly to most Caribbean destinations direct from London and we can also use other airlines if you do want to maybe do Orlando and Barbados or Mexico and Vegas or even St Lucia and New York.

We tailor make the holiday so the possibilities are endless.

Let me know if you need surjestions. Im getting married in Jamaica next year as there are only 3 of us going and am having a reception when we are back home in the UK.

If it is something special you are planning I would concider a Sandals property as you can tailor make your wedding package and choose your own personal colour scheme. They also do a FREE Beautiful Beginnings wedding package which is out of this world.
