Help needed- Hen Night B&B in Blackpool and weddingy bits cheaply!

tressls, 13 June, 2011 at 19:29 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hey girls

My hen night is supposed to be Sat 9th July so less than a month away. I need to book a B&B after friday when I get paid- I am so tired of trawling the net, so thought I would ask- does anyone know of any cheap (real cheap!) B&Bs not a million miles away from the centre/main 'going out' bit of Blackpool? really needs to be as cheap as possible as people are dropping out of the hen night already and if it's too much then I can;t see others coming.

Secondly- I am now down to having to sort and pay for the weddingy bits (once I have paid the reg fees, there will only be the stuff below to pay for, plus extra chair covers/buffet depending on guests).

INIVITES! Yes, really, with like 9 wks to go I still don;t have them. I plan to use Vistaprint or similar (again, cheapest possible!), and try to get them ordered this weekend. Although people already know details I still need to send proper invites don't I! Was thinking of just buying the paper ones you write on but not sure? Anyone done that?

WEDDING CAKE! I did originally find someone on FB locally but she stopped replying to emails and it doesn't fill me with confidence so I found this lady- who can do a 'budget' 3 tier wedding cake for about £125 http://www.carolscelebrationcakes.com/80650/info.php?p=2 I don;t know which exactly of those pics is a budget cake but I only want a 3 tier sponge cake white iced with purple ribbon and a novelty topper (!). Waiting to hear back from her, and pay her my £25 deposit if happy.

SWEETS! I plan to have a little sweety table- nothing extravagent- but there will be a few younger kids there. Where can I buy some cool looking sweets cheaply- that I don't need a card for?

UNDIES! I need some nice yet supportive undies- my dress is strapless and I have big boobs- any suggestions? That again, won't break the bank?

I am getting there towards being fully organised now. I still need my dress taking up which will cost about £25 from a local dressmaker. I need to book somewhere for my nails, tax and wax- preferably all at once, a day or so before the wedding. Still need to buy the girls shoes, and favour fillings for the guests too (chocs?!). Also a bouquet photo charm for a pic of beloved grandad (RIP), and some decent makeup that again won't skint me!!! I need to have a hair trial and book a time for my hair for me and my daughter on the day. I also have to arrange and pay for a minibus for my far away guests as the guy who said yes has now stopped replying to emails-eek! If anyone lives in the Chesterfield area and can recommend a cheap reliable minibus company I would be most grateful.

I got my shoes (3rd pair after the LightInTheBox disaster and ones from Littlewoods that were too cream). They are nice BUT one diamante is missing out of one of the buckles and it is noticeable even though small. Have emailed them asking if they can refund me as I will now have to faff about finding a crystal the same size and glue it in- any suggestions as to where I can get them?!?!

Starting to come together now! Still dunno about wedding music though- eek!

Tx

You've got a busy 9 weeks ahaead of you!!

Blackpool - I stayed in the Mardi Gras last year for my 21st. Were supposed to stay in The Lark Inn across the way but when we arrived they said our ceiling had fallen in so would be moved across the way. The Mardi Gras is a gay hotel in the centre of the gay village (where to be honest all the b&bs close to the main square are!), and I loved it!! The staff were lovely; it was so clean and they had a really fun and cheesy bar downstairs. It was def the best one in the area! Plus it was £25 each! Bargain! And literally two streets away from the Square.

Invites - I've ordered party invites from vistaprint and they were great. Arrived about 2 weeks earlier than expected and great quality. Worth a lot more than their £6!

Undies - A few people have said the new Wonderbra is good. Might be worth a try.

Good luck in the hen nite planning!!! I'm currently torn between Blackpool and Prague for mine!

If you need to buy sweets with out a card I would advise either online (there are lots of sweet shops) or maybe the poundshop? They somtime to large buckets/bags of sweets that could work

For make up that will not skint you try discountcosmetics4u. They do top brands at cheaper prices. Or if you are not bothered about brands you could try googling ELF (Eyes lips face) they have nice products that are cheap?

I second this - it's brilliant. I think it's called the Wonderbra Ultimate strapless bra. Definitely try it on before ordering as I've had to have mine in a size (round the back) smaller. It was on sale in Debenhams last week. Not sure if the sale is still on but worth a look.

I also second having a look in a Pound shop - maybe Poundland for the sweets. Our has LOADS of different big bags of sweets for a £.

Good luck with the shoes. I got some little crystal things from Ebay before so maybe try there? Just try & measure the ones from your shoes as my estimate sizes were way out.

Aw no problem! Hitched can be a bit weird about replies. Some posts get hundreds and some not at all! Suppose it depends on what people have to say. Hope your stay in Blackpool is as fab as mine was!! x
