BabyBoo, 12 July, 2009 at 08:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Hi , I have a wedding to go to in September and just cant seem to find a nice dress to wear to it, I need somthing with thickish straps if I was to wear it on its own, if with a little bolero or shrug then I can wear a bandeau style top dress, I am a size 16 with okish legs but a huge tummy so need help to disguise that. TIA for any help xx

This is probably nothing like what you'd like, but I was just wondering how you felt about the thickness of these straps? Are these thick enough? Also my advice for disguising a tummy would be to go for empire line sort of like this:

Then the fabric will flow over your curves!

I'm sure more people will be along shortly to help!

This is nice from Monsoon - would look great on a curvey figure I reckon!

Get some Spanx for the tummy, that's what I will be doing!

I'm a size 16 with a tummy too and find that dresses that fit on and flatter in the boob area but drape loosely over the tummy are best. I got a lovely dress from the Julian Macdonald collection in Debenhams for a christmas party last year and a similar one for a wedding last summer from Wallis.

I was surprised what styles suited me and was quite open-minded about what to choose, not being a girly girl and only wearing dresses on very special occasions, so I'd say try on lots of different styles - you might surprise yourself
