Have a look at the Sandals in Emerald Bay, its new. The Bahamas dont get hit by the tropical storms as much as some of the other islands and it will be perfect there!

How about Mexico? Some of the beach resorts are lovely, and once you've had your fill of beaches there's plenty to explore inland - Mayan ruins, amazing jungles and wildlife. Weather should be good in August.

Have had a few replies on the same post I made on the wedding planning forum... a few people have said that the caribbean should be fine but I'm still not totally sure so we're also looking at mauritius, mozambique and california at the moment - so much choice, it's really exciting!

August should be fine for any of the Caribbean Islands, You may experience the occasional Tropical Downpour which could last for upto an hour but with the heat and humidity the rain will soon clear. You are right in thinking though that August used to be the time to avoid and classed as the hurricane season for the Caribbean, however, it is now Late Sept - Early/Mid Nov that is classed as 'Hurricane Season'.

Were honeymooning end of Aug and doing 3 nights in Sri Lanka and 7 nights in the Maldives! We felt that it would be a good combination as lots to do In Sri Lanka and the lazy in Maldives.

Mozambique would be amazing and is on my list along with Zambia. I know I'm biased but what about Tanzania? Safaris are pretty good and then a boat ride or quick flight over to Zanzibar where you could spend some of the time on the beach and a couple of days in Stone Town. Of course there's also the option of climbing Kili but you'd probably be better saving your energy for more fun things ?
