Help needed with message to put on paving stone which will be in stadium for fiance

MrsMillerToBe, 13 October, 2011 at 12:56 Posted on Planning 0 14

For my fiance's wedding present I have decided I'd like to purchase him a fan's paving stone in his favourite sport club's stadium engraved with a message, I am allowed 3 lines of 18 letters each including spaces. They will put the paving stone down sometime between winter and spring so could be put down before our wedding which is in March or even after, they cannot guarantee timing of it. But they will send me a certificate with location of paving slab and the message which I can then present to my husband to be on our wedding day. Trouble is I'm really stuck on a message, I would like something that 'marks' our wedding date for as long as the paving stone remains in place, but as it might be there before or after our wedding I am not sure how to word it, ie. to my husband, to my fiance. I would like to somehow leave a short message, not too gushy but telling him I love him, something about the wedding and our names, any ideas??? I'm totally stumped and would like to get it ordered asap so can't spend weeks deciding on a message ☹️ and I'm totally useless with words. Any help appreciated.

54 characters including spaces isn't much!

Could you maybe put something like:

    DD.MM.YYYY - 10

On this day, [his initials]&[your initials] - 18

    became man & wife - 17

How about something along those lines??

What about the line from your first dance song?

    How about

For my Mr Miller (or use first name)

III/XI/MMXI - 4ever ((this is my wedding date in roman numerals and the 4ever is quite soppy)

Your Wife ****** (then your name... OR Love Mrs Miller xx )

I would have for my hubby

To my DikDik (his pet name)

    you are my world

    Love you. MRS O x

I don't know about you, but my OH wouldn't want anything too soppy where soppy doesn't belong i.e. sport of any kind.

So I would be more inclined to go for something like the above that is more a statement of fact than a declaration of love, if that makes sense?

Thanks all, been busy trying to make a short message and maybe something very basic is better, so this is really really basic but think I might go with:

    To ****, on our 15
    Wedding 30/3/12 15
    Love ******** x 15

Doesn't help that my name is long lol

Very basic but has our names and the date of the wedding incase he needs reminding of our anniversary ?

or something like this, bit more soppy but straight to the point:

    **** - Love You
    today & always
    30/3/12 - *** x

    which one do you think?

    I went for

    Pxxx & Axxxxx

    Wedding day

    26th Nov 2011

Smiley smile i am chuffed to bits now and so happy i have a present for H2b

I ordered the stone, and a replica for home, but as they are done in batches it is likely they wont be ready till after wedding, so i emailed and asked if the certificate could be sent earlier explaining it was wedding present. The woman i emailed phoned me back and was so pleased i had ordered it has said she wil put the artwork through adn push for it all to be ready for wedding day - even checking if i had alternative address to deliver it to cos she is worried that h2b could be in when it is delivered and surprise would be spoilt. She told me a certificate is available to print out ut told me not to cos she will print it our there on nice card etc. Shetold me to email her in a week and then to keep emailing weekely for updates Smiley smile she is a star and is almost as excited as me bless her
