Help please, everyone!!!

Princess_Dimples, 19 March, 2010 at 17:03 Posted on Planning 0 19

Ok heres the problem. That ticker below says 2 years and 1 month till I get married... there is a chance it will be changed to 5 MONTHS!!!

How on earth am I going to plan a wedding in 5 months???!!!! I feel dizzy and very sick at the thought, and over the moon I could be getting married so soon!

I wanted to make my own invites, but I now I'm not sure if there is time. When do they need to be sent out?

Possible wedding date is either 27th August (my Birthdays!!!) or 1st October!

Also I haven't got a dress, is there enough time to get one!!!????

So your OH liked Ye Olde Plough then?!

5 months is plenty of time. I'd say main priorities are dress (of course!), invites (sent out 3 months before so plenty of time) and the things like photographer / videographer / florist etc.

I've seen it done in less. In fact, I'm going to a wedding on 10th April where the couple only got engaged New Years Eve! ?

Crikey that is def bringing it forward a bit. My sister in law had a massive wedding dress problem in that 2 days before the big day she was suddenly dressless. We ran into Harrods and se tried on every white dress they had. As she was her wedding weight and size there were no real alterations needed (her straps needed taking up but this tok no time at all to do). Although i wouldnt recommend it it is def possible to get a wedding dress quickly. DOnt forget a lot of dress shops will also sell the dress that they have in teh shop at a discounted price, you then just need to get it cleaned and altered but not made (not sure how you feel about wearing a dress that other people have tried on).

I would say that your weding invites need to go out fairly soon if you go for august as it will be a summer wedding and people will be booking holidays etc.

    Good luck!!

Thank you for the reassurance. and yeah OH did like it!

If we chose 1st october we would obviously have longer, but I do like the thought of having it on 27th August as its also a Bank Holiday weekend, and we think we may have a mini moon and wait to do Mexico till next April when weather is better.

Thankfully Mum is buying my dress, so will need to get her in gear as well!

Don't panic it can easily be done, you just need a good list and priorities. Invites not as urgent as save the dates.

5 months is plenty of time thats how long we had. I didnt send the invites out until 2 months before and I ordered my dress just 3 months before!!! As long as you stick to a good planner of the things that need doing it'll be a doddle. I liked the fact that I had a deadline and that I didnt have ages to wait til I got married as well.

    HI,

we booked ours in October for November this year. It was originally going to be June this year, but we didnt think it would give us much time. I'm so organised and almost everything is sorted. We could have done it in June and i keep thinking about it and wishing we had booked it for June. lol.

5 months is definately do-able. you just have to get organised

Panic not!!! This is totally achievable - sit down, make a list of things to do, prioritise and get cracking. You'll be absolutely fine. Remember we are all here to help as well

Right well lets scrap that idea. I have never met such a rude and unhelpful person in my life. There package deal incoorporates an £80.00 ice sculpture which is not to my taste, and I kindly asked if it could be changed for some extra drinks or food for buffet, and got a flat NO! I even requested some sort of salad with the buffet and also got told NO.

I would certainly avoid this place at all costs.

Anyway back to orginal plan which seems better every day!

    Arr Gem thats my Birthday.

We're waiting now to see how much OH gets back from Tax man (he's self employed), he should hopefully get enough to cover wedding. We'll be going back to orginal place and see if we can haggle the price slightly!

Chelle, were you originally getting married at De Rougemont Manor or did I just completely make that up? If i'm not going mad, definitely haggle a bit. We had to cut back a bit and they've been really helpful in ways to cut costs and capping per head prices etc. Sorry if i've got it completely wrong and this is no help to you.
